I had never before had such a powerful and deceptive tool in my hands to perform the pen through the bill/paper routine.
It's not until you try it yourself that you realize that you won't be using any other gimmick for this routine. It really is the perfect pen!
It will need some kind of maintenance in case you use it quite A LOT, but I guess it's not something you won't find easyly on the drug store.

This is a great addition to the pen through bill routine. Number one, looks nothing like the typical plastic pen you use for this routine, looks nicer. Second, you can hand it out and have them write something etc. and nothing is revealed. Third, it works flawlessly, and last there is nothing to ditch, it takes care of itself. This is a very nice devise and if you do the pen through bill just get this. You'll love how it works and how easy it is to use. If someone you do the bill penetration for "thinks" they know how the trick works....this devise will blow their mind and fool them.

Just in the way of maintenance, do you need to lubricate from time to time. And if so, which lubricant to use?

For the first time I had a snag with the USPS losing my package. Thanks to the integrity of Vanishing Inc. alone the situation was resolved. The USPS was basically useless.
The product itself is a work of art and after learning a few basics, any magician could incorporate their own spin. On day one I combine 2 versions into one plus my own twist.

This is a high quality prop that will preform as advertised. Has the look and feel of a quality pen rather than one of a 6 pack bundle from an office supply store. Spectators know you have a gimmick pen. With proper handling they will not be able to determine how the pen is constructed. A fun puzzler rather than the world’s greatest magic that can be part of your everyday carry. Highly recommend.

This is a great tool, looks beautiful, and works great. There is a downside in that, although the ad copy states the pen is fully examinable, it would be fairly obvious to someone examining it that there's something "suspect" about the pen-- as the tip part is a bit loose and wobbles slightly. Better than asking someone to examine, would be to follow up the bill illusion with another trick that requires the spectator to sign something. Just give them the pen and ask them to sign whatever it is -- that's an indirect way of allowing spectator to examine and they will be less likely to fiddle with it. But with the right handling this pen is great.

I stand by my last review of this pen being good.... However:

Upon handling the pen for a few days the part inside of the cap that makes the gimmick work has caused the entire pen barrel to turn copper looking.... It literally looks like it was made of rose gold now..... It completely ruins the effect of the pen and kind of makes it impossible to use the way it was intended.

If you do buy this, I would buy one for handling and one for using with your spectators.

The concept is good, and the explanation video is very well presented. Unfortunately, the mechanism appears to be quite fragile, as mine arrived in a non-integral condition. I returned it, and while I would have preferred a refund, I got a replacement order instead. I hope it's not broken, too.

Let me preface this by saying how much I like Vanishing inc and everything by John Cornelius, including previous incarnations of pen through anything. However, there is a disappointing design flaw. The cap has no friction so it does not connect to the body of the pen. I’m told that’s in order to sell the illusion that you can slide it back-and-forth. However that’s such a small move I don’t believe it sells much. I believe the impact it has on pocket management outweighs that finesse point. Said another way if you clip it on a pocket the body of the pen will drop into your pocket while the top remains clipped and separated. If you do handed out for inspection, pieces will fly in opposite directions. I’m trying to gently bend the metal of to create that friction and I’m afraid to damage the product. I’ll keep trying and very small increments.

I really wanted to love this pen, but it's just not quite there. Unfortunately, the cap does not stay on the back of the pen. So once you uncap it for the penetration you cannot turn the pen to display it because the cap will fall off. I have never had a regular pen where you couldn't put the cap on the back, so I assumed that the item I received was defective. Vanishing Inc kindly had a replacement sent out, and I was very surprised to see that this one also slid right off. I guess it's part of the design?

The penetration part of the pen works perfectly, but sadly it cannot be handed out for someone to scribble with, nor can you handle it like a real pen. Hopefully the next iteration will fix this and it will be a 5-star perfect product.
