Customer reviews for Cy Endfield's Entertaining Card Magic

Cy Endfield was my very first mentor in card magic. I was introduced to him through Alan Alan.

Every Saturday at Valerie’s Patisserie on Old Compton Street, Alan and I would meet Cy for afternoon Tea. It was here that I saw the material from this book come to life.

I was already studying this book by the time I met him. It was easy to navigate and build a rapport with him. The material in this book is quiet frankly outstanding.

Reading it today gives me a great feeling of nostalgia - I can hear Cy’s voice as he perform his version of The Hofzinser Top Change. His work on The Peek Control was superb, this was long before I started with Marlo.

The routines in this book will keep you busy. One of the stand out routines is The Escape of The Musketeers - imagine “The Biddle Trick meets The Travelers”. It’s brilliant composition and the effect is outstanding.

I encourage you all to read this book and study it, you will be repaid with wonderful card magic that your audience will enjoy.

Join me in keeping the legacy of Cy Endfield alive.

I start all my reviews of these Supreme books talking about how much I love Supreme books. They are like a by-gone era of publishing in magic. This one is just as fantastic of all these other (now 'retro' or 'vintage' I suppose) books. This was originally published in three parts that are collected here. As with my favorite publications here Cy will give you an explanations of the moves used to perform the tricks in the book. Really, really good stuff here. Sometimes some of these effects can be forgotten due to their age but I've found with a little tweaking or work on scripting, you can create things people haven't seen before instead of a variation on something everyone is doing nowadays.

The signed card to pocket is worth the price of the book. It really looks like you do kpt do any false moves, the card is seen in the middle before completely squaring it with the rest of the deck, you reach into your pocket with your opposite hand and boom, the card is there. This can also be a really direct card to wallet. Great magic overall!
