There are many merits to this 2-DVD set. The toolbox section alone is worth the price of admission. I loved the teaching (and James thoughts) on four of a kind productions, peeks, the pass, and "Thoughts on Controls I and II." The first effect from the set that I will be working on is "Poker Con." This can be performed in a strolling set or in a formal close-up show. Another interesting thing about this effect is that it can be performed with advanced moves or not-so-advanced moves (the version he teaches could probably be performed by beginners, but the version he demonstrates uses more advanced moves). In fact, even though James is an advanced card handler, most of the effects can be performed by intermediate card handlers. "Roy's Sandwich" and the various triumph routines deserve further study also. As an added bonus, I loved the interviews at the end (how James auditioned and then got cast for his TV show, winning a BAFTA, etc.). Highly recommended!!Randy Masters
At best I’m an amateur magician but more likely described as someone with a passion for magic. I’m not a great fan of “4 of a Kind productions” and I had never found a sandwich effect which has excited me. So why on earth did I purchase James Went’s “Meditations” download from Vanishing Inc Magic? To be honest I’m a sucker for quotes from magicians for whom I have the utmost respect. The product description included Andi Gladwin, Anthony Owen, Dave Forrest, Michael Murray, Andy Nyman, Roddie McGhie all waxing lyrical about James and this product. Phil Shaw shared a link on facebook adding his glowing recommendation to the mix … So I bought the download purely on their words alone.This is, quite possibly, the best purchase I have made all year. Considering I’d initially counted out a lot of the content by being a naive idiot with my pre-conceived ideas about “4 of a Kind productions” and sandwiches, my biggest take home is “Roy’s Sandwich” (yes, a sandwich effect!). This one effect has changed my mind about sandwiches and therefore alone it was worth the cost of the download(s) and more! I will definitely be practicing and using it. The effects are all great and I can see most of them easily fitting into a worker’s repertoire.
