Back in 2018, I snagged myself this leather coin cylinder. The leather feels robust and durable, and the black and brown options give you that extra touch of style. I personally prefer brown. For $45 is it worth it? I have seen other magicians absolutely kill it with this cylinder. Especially the magicians up in the Chicago Magic Lounge.

I think my favorite memory seeing this in-person would be at the Chicago Magic Lounge. Their routine was so slick using this cylinder. It was probably some of the best close-up I’ve seen performed. I purchased it specifically for the Silver and Sorcery Download which is not available for sale anymore.

The description doesn’t say what kind of leather this coin cylinder is. If it’s the finest leather then they would be using full-grain leather. If that’s what they used, then it’s durable, strong, and highly resistant to wear and tear. Full-grain leather tends to be more expensive than other types and the cost could range from $50 to several hundred dollars. However, if it a 2.5 inch diameter leather cylinder a person could expect to pay anywhere from a few dollars to around $20 or more depending on the specific requirements.

45 dollars is quite pricy for a leather cylinder but that said this cylinder is really well made and works incredibly well. So nice to get a product that just works. And it works consistently. I bought this with the deluxe ramsay coin set as the cylinder that comes with it is very poorly made and unpractical. With this cylinder I have everything I need to do the classic effect. I can recommend this product.

This is exactly what I wanted. Sturdy, simple, beautiful. I have purchased two Cylinder and Coins sets, both of which came with useless cylinders. This fits the bill perfectly.

If you do cylinder & coin routine during coin magic routine, it is one thing that is necessary. I bought a dollar-sized, black version from Vanishing Inc. and the quality of the leather is great and I have no discomfort in doing my routine.

I really love this cylinder. Mine came too small and the stack stuck in it but after stretching it out on a wood dowel for a few days it became exactly the size I needed and it handles great. Top quality work. Now that I think about it, I think I’ll get a second just in case.

Top quality leather cylinder for ramsay cylinder and coins routine. I got this in brown to replace a plastic cylinder and the leather makes the moves so much more natural. It's a beautiful prop that interests the spectator without screaming magical gimmick prop.

The Coin Cylinder is a nice cylinder and gets the job done. When you get it you’ll have to find a tube to fit into the cylinder to round it out. The cylinder was shipped in a soft envelope therefore it was a little crushed. Being leather it didn’t really do any damage. I just wish the United States Postal Service would take pride in handling the merchandise that we pay for, and they delivers.

  • John asks: Hi Folks, I can see stitching around the ends, but are these cylinders seamless on the side? Is Frank still in business? Thanks! John

    • 1. Jim answers: They are not seamless. I'm not sure about Frank.
    • 2. Dr. Joaquin M. answers: The cylinders that Frank sold were smooth inside, not sure about any of the newest offerings, speaking of which: Frank himself is not in business as far as The Ambitious Card goes, but he did give a leather maker permission to continue making his product line. [Moderators, if I may] here is the web address: leatherconnection.co (Desantis Leather Goods).
