EFFECT: The magician shows a salt shaker, and might even pour a bit of real salt out of it. Now, he pours all of the salt into his closed fist and without any sleights, makes the salt vanish! He shows the shaker completely empty, then covers it with a silk. Upon removing the silk he shows the shaker full of salt again!

I recently came by an old Ethereal Salt shaker via a magic auction. I immediately liked it but noticed a small crack in the plastic near the bottom that seemed to be growing. I believe that was due to its age - maybe it had been dropped, rather than quality. I liked the trick so much that I bought 2 more as future replacements. The chrome lids of the newer gimmicks seem to be the tiniest bit less solid (maybe they used a different type of plastic) I also think that the crystals look a bit brighter and whiter in the older one and seem to flow more smoothly as well, but again, extremely minute differences that I only notice when compared side by side - nobody else is ever going to notice. Finally, the lid of the older one seems to turn a bit more smoothly than the newer. Maybe the manufacturing quality has declined a bit.
That said, both gimmicks work well and are easy to use either going from empty to full or full to empty. I love all the possibilities of this prop and have already created a new routine for myself using it. I would definitely recommend this purchase. As for VI service, they got it to me quickly and well packaged which I always appreciate.
