Is this a loading device or just a box

You can put on small objects inside.

Hi, could you tell me if the lid on this box opens and closes smoothly, quickly and under it's own weight? For example I wish to use this for a technique taught in the Books of Wonder where it suggests using a hinge made of silk. Thank you.

The hinge doesn't move as smoothly as it would for the Ring Box routine from Books of Wonder. With some modification, it might be possible.
