Remotes tend to vary in quietness, I’ve had some for other products (bought elsewhere) that were unusable - how loud/quiet is this one in operation?

It's very quiet but there is a small click noise made.

You could put the remote in your shoe as a toe switch but there is no other hands free option.

I'm assuming is glass, yes? Also, what about charging and how long does the charge last?

The bulb is not made of glass. A single charge will last you dozens of performances as long as you turn off the bulb when you're done.

Could we get some specs about the remote?

The remote is about half the size of a playing card. You can change the batteries in the remote easily.
