In my opinion, this is a perfect option for the beginner or hobbyist to raise their bar. It is also a great package for more advanced card magicians to go back to and refine some of the bad habits that may have been picked up over the years. Pacing is right on point, explanations are crystal clear and very detailed. At this point, I would say there is a whole generation that started with the Card College 5 volume set and this really is the perfect companion for the books, especially if you are ready to step up your game. This is one of those great purchases that you won't regret.

To call this a "Masterclass" does not do this project or Robert Giobbi complete justice. This is not be considered a replacement or substitute for Card College Books 1-5 -- it should instead be a required complement to those spectacular books. Hearing Giobbi's candid thoughts on what works, what to prioritize, and most importantly, how to think and see from the perspective of the viewer/audience is valuable beyond words. I would give this a score of 11 on a scale from 0 to 10. How he breaks this project up into 5 parts is smart. For instance, the Controls session resulted in a nuanced but complete change to my handling -- I am more comfortable, more confident, and the astonishment of my audience has been palpable. Giobbi is always an excellent teacher. Thank you to Roberto Giobbi and Vanishing Inc for this spectacular holiday surprise!

I ordered this and it seems like great quality. However I’m overwhelmed. I’m not sure how to use it. Since it’s called a master class, I wish there was a road map or specific references to where to find specific items in the books.

A very good complement to both the Card College books and the DVD:s. Its also very good even if you dont have them and if you want to learn more about the contents on these DVD:s. For the complete beginner I would recommend the Card College DVD:s instead but for those that has a little knowledge, these DVD:s are really good! I highly recommend them

This is really wonderful. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through, but I am really enjoying Giobbi's take on both familiar and unfamiliar moves. His demeanor, his patience, and his precision make him a wonderful teacher, and his little tips and touches make this a resource that I'm sure I'll be using for years and years. Not the kind of thing that you would want to watch in one sitting--or even five sittings--but this is great for little "sips" with plenty of time for practice or contemplation in between. I'm looking forward to spending weeks with this set, and then starting over from the beginning.

I am so glad I made this purchase. It is absolutely full of vital information. As others have stated, it is not a replacement for the Card College series but a perfect companion. Right off the bat, it was great to see what I have read in action by a master. Fixed some of my techniques when I was able to see it done on video. Giobbi was born to teach. On the subject, this is like learning in a class. There aren't any tricks or live performances but yet still very interesting. This is for serious studying. It does become difficult to not just sit through the entire thing because he just keeps on giving vital information for each technique. Whether you have read any of the Card College books or not, you will learn proper techniques and ideas from these videos. I do recommend buying some of the Card College books though as it will save hours of rewinding the videos.

Masterclass is an absolutely splendid way to learn some really amazing methods. This is a dvd set designed to create a bigginers tool set in card magic and to completely refresh and expand on the moves experts have been using for years. Don’t buy this in hopes of learning a famous routine or self working tricks this instead gives you the tools to build your own routines and tricks. Can’t say enough about this amazing dvd set. Roberto Giobbi has once again hit it out of the park.

Oh boy, just get this. Roberto is one of the best magicians alive today. He teaches so many great moves. I am so happy it is devided by sections, forces, false shuffles, etc. It really makes it easy to find what you ate looking for. Great for beginners or even experienced card magicians. Every one will get something out of this download.

The videos are very professional, great picture and sound. Robert does a fantastic job showing techniques and giving tips and recommendations on how to use them. I am glad I purchased this series.

This is a great download contains lots of different card moves including false shuffles, controls and force's. The video is split up into different sections, shot well and easy to understand This is great and you begin a magician in card magic.

Roberto Giobbi is a veritable encyclopedia of card handling, sleights, and tricks. More importantly for the viewer is that Giobbi is also an excellent teacher. He is clear, concise, and engaging. Giobbi is most famous for his Card College books but these videos are great for visual learners or those people who find CC intimidating.

Watching Roberto Giobbi just demonstrate false shuffles and cuts is a masterclass on its own. But when you find out the method, it makes the shuffles and cuts even more fun to perform so that you don't have to use the same old false cuts. If you wanted to, you can do a whole routine where you apparently shuffle and cut the cards, and then reveal to the spectators that they are in brand new deck order, which would still leave the audience baffled.

Wow! I'm floored by this. This is really the best way to learn "hands on" literally, all about palming and exactly what and how to practice it. Sure, I was able to palm a card, but I never had learned how to do it properly and deceptively, and most of all EASILY. Seeing Roberto Giobbi and having him personally explain is incredible. If you are a beginner to card magic and are looking to master techniques, this is definitely the purchase to make. You cannot have too many references at your disposal. Especially when taught by a master of the craft. However you must keep in mind that when purchasing this that you are not paying for anything action packed. You are paying for something for valuable. INFORMATION. The bottom line is you will learn something from this and by the end of it you will be a better magician.

Also amazing is how Mr. Giobbi just drops in details and subtleties on this material that he learned from other magicians and years of study. There is a lesson in continuous improvement in that alone. Thanks to RG for putting it all on film and thanks to Vanishing for arranging that a true master can teach this hobbyist.

I took 2 pages of notes on The Glide alone! The psychology, subtleties and overall gestalt behind every detailed demonstration leaves nothing out. These lectures will improve moves and routines you have been doing for years. Even if you have the books by Giobbi (which you know you didn't go through properly anyway) you will find gold that couldn't be included for practical reasons and details you missed. This work inspired me to go back to Card College with new eyes, open eyes and an enthusiasm I cannot put into words. I practice extremely high level slights that I almost never attempt live (as suggested in C.C., did you miss that advice?) Because mastery of these builds confidence and "People can instinctively sense the difference between the expert and the dilettante" (Ken Krenzel). This is not the same as C.C.. This is the PhD Graduate Course on slight of hand and the psychology of card illusions. You will find yourself taking notes. You will find yourself dusting off your old books. You will be re-inspired! With so many tools in your tool box, you will find yourself reading just the effect in other works , then working out three or four solutions yourself, another exercise that is mentioned in the books. One of my all time favorite dvds on card magic. These have so many great moves that you can pick and choose to use in almost any effect. I absolutely love the way Roberto explains card magic. If you have the opportunity to do so, get this set or the download as soon as possible! You will not regret it!

This video is a perfect complement to the fundamental Card College, a classic masterpiece for every learning magician. The lesson includes all the main techniques to be fluent in false shuffling and a lot of suggestions, Roberto is a marvellous teacher and he knows how to transmit his passion and deep culture.

Very good, very extensive, with several different methods and several ideas on how to do and present them, I think it is more difficult to watch from start to finish without pauses, as it is a bit boring and extensive, however, I think it is really worth the worth seeing. Really is a masterclass.

This is a must have if one needs to understand the foundations of card magic. It is also a great addition if one has the card college books. Roberto is a wonderful instructor. If you want to know 'Sleight-of-Hand' This has more information than can be imagined. You will need to work and practice but the payoff is great.
