A brain-breaking illusion that will leave them questioning reality!

"Blur" is a devious creation from Mathieu Bich and Garrett Thomas that allows you manipulate your participant's vision in a way that will have them running straight to their optometrist.

A full deck of cards is spread and a card is chosen. On your command, this selected card becomes blurry and indistinguishable. You then reverse course and tune the entire deck out of focus, leaving their card as the only visible card.

Using an innovative gimmick that is hidden in plain sight, "Blur" is super easy to do and a ton of fun to do.

From direct effects to cunning dual reality routines, "Blur" can be used to craft uniquely personal and memorable experiences. It is easy enough for beginners to use while also offering the flexibility advanced magicians prefer.

Originally released as a bestselling Tenyo effect, "Blur" is now available on high-quality Bicycle stock and comes with Nearly 3 hours of tutorials featuring 12+ visual, surprising and amazing routines to help you get the most out of this powerful multi-functional tool.

In my experience, this is one of those tricks that you will like more than your audience. It's not bad, it's just so weird and different from anything most audiences are used to seeing that it really catches them off guard. Don't get me wrong, some of the reactions I've gotten from this were really great, it's just that overall it's kind of a "mixed bag". Some people are just confused by it (and you remember what Dai Vernon said about confusion and magic) so this is one of those tricks that needs a really great presentation to really pull out the desired reaction each and every time. I'm still working on mine.

The deck itself is superb. The blur effect looks incredible up close, much better than in the trailer. It is genuinely quite discombobulating, so convincing is the blurry print. Sadly, the tutorial is a real letdown, which comes as a surprise given the talent of the creators themselves. It's just unnecessarily difficult to follow along. The nature of the cards and the kind of complexities at play would have really benefitted from slower, clearly explained step-by-step instructions at key moments, with multiple camera angles (particularly over the shoulder). Instead, everything is very loose and it's filmed straight on from a distance where it's very difficult to make out exactly what's happening at key stages. It made me crave a highly detailed and incredibly thorough 5-hour Craig Petty tutorial (which much as I love Craig is something I never thought I'd say). Shame. It's a great product. I wish they'd re-film it.
