Taken directly from the bestselling "Constructing Magic" collection, Luke Jermay's incredibly unique spin on the"Homing Card" plot breathes new life into the classic of magic.

Right in front of their eyes, you make four red cards transform into black cards, one-by-one, in increasingly impossible ways. Like most Luke Jermay effects though, this description does not do it proper justice. This version of "Homing Card" is a masterclass in routining that you can see in action with the full performance above.

Customer reviews for Constructing Magic - The Homing Card

Joshua
Great fun. Luke is always entertaining. I don't know that it's something I'll make up, but I enjoyed hearing Luke's idea of a palate cleanser routine. A nice little idea for putting routines together. It's been a while since I've seen Luke perform and be going back to watch some of his other material after this. A good reminder of what a good magical thinker he is.

Constructing should be the name for this trick, because there is quite a bit of it involved before you can even think about practicing. But, hey, it's only $.99.

would help to know how to get the split and double sided cards

Luke Jermay teaches a wonderful packet trick in which a pesky extra black card keeps turning up amidst red cards. The presentation packs small and plays well. The patter is really well written. While Jermay admits this illusion is a "pallet cleanser" filling in between impactful magic, I really liked the illusion. It requires 3 gimmicked cards, which can be made if you know how to split cards, or if you own a gaffed deck. Jermay also goes through a few basic slides, including Elmsley count. A Fabulous purchase!!!!

A great little effect that's a lot of fun to watch. Really enjoyed the chat with Andi at the end as well with all the deep thinking behind every aspect. Worth it for the theory even if you never perform it.

So much to learn here. Luke is a master of presentation and the effort he puts into his tutorials is stellar. This will take practice but it's a masterclass in magical thinking. Love his work. Get this.

As much as I love Vanishing inc. I was disappointed with this purchase. In order to perform this trick you require a couple of gaff cards, one is easily available and common which most card magicians will have, however, the other is not and this is not mentioned in the promo. Caveat emptor!

They don’t say it but I see this as a children’s trick. That’s not a bad thing. When doing walk around at a corporate picnic or other family event, I think it’s important to have some stuff that entertains the kids but still fools the adults. I like the fact that this is only about the color of the cards. Suits and values aren’t mentioned so it’s easy for a four year old to follow along.

Light hearted closeup trick. As stated by Mr. Jermay, this is a “palate cleanser” trick to be performed closeup between other tricks. It does require a few basic sleights which Mr. Jermay shows you but does not explain how to do them. Frankly, I got this trick to practice my “_______ Count” which I could tell is used in this trick. While Mr. Jermay does not teach this and the other basic sleights needed for the trick, his teaching of the trick is first rate. The only other negative I see for this trick is that you will need three gimmicked cards to do the trick, which are not provided. However, if you are an experienced magician, you should have, be able to get, or make the required cards. Otherwise, a “bit-of-fun” trick!

I absolutely love this trick, it’s so fun and genuinely enjoyable to perform. I’m usually not a big fan of packet tricks, but this one completely won me over. It’s easy to do, plays very smoothly, and gets great reactions without feeling overcomplicated. This is exactly the kind of trick you want to keep in your pocket for an impromptu moment or as a playful encore after a show. Both you and your audience will have a great time with it, and that’s what really matters.
