What a great routine! It again shows the brilliance of Dani DaOrtiz. Usually I don't do too much Oil and Water stuff, but this one went right into my repertoire. This is really fun to perform and soooo cleverly constructed.

Anything by Dani DaOrtiz has a double value - one is the effect/routine(s) themselves that are taught, but the other is being able to go through with Dani his thought processes and psychology behind the construction of his routines. Why he does everything that he does - how he directs his attitude and the participants' attitudes and memories and attentions.

If you have any interest in performing a version of Oil and Water, at $5, this is a steal and worth a study. Even if you don't perform this exact version, it may give you some ideas for alternative approaches to the plot and incorporating more "sleight of participant action/attention" rather than sleight of hand, not only to this plot, but to other areas of your magic.

For only £5 I was shocked at how brilliant this trick was, Dani made everything seem so seemless and the best thing was how he taught you to do all the dirty work and get the spectator to do it as well without them even realising because of how minor and casual what they are doing seems, absolute must!

Dani DaOrtiz is a genius. I was skeptical about being able to perform this effect but am pleasantly surprised that it is easier than I had expected. I don't remember seeing any sleights but there probably was a few (I'll check later after rewatching the video.

I was skeptical about buying some of Dani's work (although I've been happy with his material so far), but I had to take a chance on this variation of Oil and Water. Interestingly, the spectator seems to do most/all of the work. You don't have to have a wacky personality to perform this effect, but it is one you can have fun and lenient with.

Dani is a genius. I think he is so creative with his work, and his presentation style is unique as it feels care free. There is a bit of setup but as exposed as you might feel, it’s very hard to see it especially when you spread the cards. I like this trick because it has an extra kicker at the end too. You’ll see for yourself !

Really powerful routine. This is one of the best self-working tricks ever created, right up there with Out of this World. Thanks for putting this out!!!

A wonderful ungimmicked O & W from Il Maestro, DaOrtiz; however, the explanation is not as clear as I would have liked. At least not for me. Maybe for you. I had to watch the video several times to understand the method. But as with everything this genius does, it's worth it. Also, a drawback of the typical O&W is the lack of a punch. It's often a nice effect but not the kind of thing that causes astonishment. This version has a great kicker.

Genius. I think that's the best full-deck oil and water effect I've ever seen. It requires a setup, but that's what false shuffles are for.

Let me start by saying that this trick has become one of my absolute favourites. It's exactly what's promised in the video - a traditional "Oil and Water" followed by a full-deck separation that all happens in the participant's hands. The one complaint from the perfectionist in me is that there are eight cards left un-separated, and resolving that after the climax of the deck separation ruins the routine's narrative. I've personally gotten around that by adding-in Derren Brown's "Oil and Water" from "the Devil's Picturebook" as an in-between stage, which I think works better with the theme of "the spectator as the magician" than other O&W variations. But if you don't mind going straight into the climax without those eight cards sorting themselves the routine is perfect as-is!
