Hex

"Christian is a master of layering methods and here he leverages that skill to massive effect. Reveal a chosen card? Check. Reveal a genuinely thought of card? Check. Make all the cards including their chosen card (which they are still holding!) turn blank? Check again. Oh, and of course everything is examinable! This is a monster... He is a monster. And that's why we love him. Hex is another 10 out of 10."Mark Elsdon
A groundbreaking new effect from Christian Grace–the creator of our all-time bestselling effects: Level One.
“Hex” is the cleanest way to reveal a card that someone is just thinking of.
You ask a participant to join you in a ritual to test their intuition. You start by asking them to think of a card and also to choose a card. The question is… are there any similarities between the cards? Maybe they’re both red. Maybe the same suit. Perhaps even the same value? You then tell them exactly what card they chose and exactly which card they thought of. It looks like real mind-reading.
It seems like this trick is over, but then comes the moment that stops everything. You reveal that the deck they chose their card from was blank the entire time! And somehow, even the card they’re holding is now blank too. Everything that happened took place completely in their minds!
You get everything you need to perform Hex right away, including two custom gimmicks and detailed instructions from Christian Grace. The method is simple, direct, and requires only basic sleight of hand.
Just in case you’re wondering, THERE IS NO DECK SWITCH! The deck you’re using throughout the routine is the same deck revealed completely blank at the end.
Watch a full performance of "Hex" below:
You’ll also learn three complete routines, one of which uses a regular deck of your own. “Hex” isn’t just a trick. It’s an experience that makes people question what’s real.
Why You’ll Love It:
- Everything happens in the spectator’s hands
- The card is genuinely thought of
- No deck switch
- Nothing is written down
You’ll learn three complete routines, including one that uses a normal deck.
"Hex" is printed by the United States Playing Card Company on their premium crushed stock with a red Mandolin Back design.
**Note—**as designed/taught, Hex only works in English.
"Hex cast a spell on me."Chris Rawlins
"Christian is a very clever creator and everything he designs is well thought out. HEX Combines numerous principles into something that is very very fooling for laymen and magicians as well."Craig Petty

Rick asks: Ok, answer me this: Can you always guess the thought of card?
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Yes every time
Janes asks: Is there a difference between this and the download in magic monthly ???
- 1. Xabier responds:In Magic Monthly Christian shared HexPectation, an ungimmicked version of this effect. Hex features three routines, two of them use the custom deck provided.
Rick asks: In the video, the participant thinks of a card, and then chooses a card — but they’re not the same card. They’re merely the same suit. But then the performer guesses both the thought of card & the chosen card. Is this how the trick always goes? How often are both the thought of & chosen card the same card?
- 1. Xabier responds:Sometimes you get a hit: they spell to their card, they find their card. They react and you know the trick is over. You could guess their card if they've not shown it. Most of the times you don't get a hit so you end up guessing two cards, the card in their hand AND the card they originally thought of.
Brian asks: Is it just diamonds they can pick or is it a free choice from all the suits ,in the video there’s a few diamonds on the face and you get a flash of the blank card whenhe transfers the diamonds to the back
- 1. Stefan responds:Any card
- 2. Stefan responds:Any card
- 3. Stefan responds:Any card
Rob asks: How is this just a thought of card, when the card is taken from the pack?
- 1. Stefan responds:Two cards are chosen. One from the pack and one freely thought of
Rob asks: How is this just a thought of card, when the card is taken from the pack?
- 1. Carlo responds:I dont think you saw the video. There is a thought of card and a chosen card. They don't have to be the same (or maybe in some scenarios, they might be)
- 2. Rob responds:I did. There’s a thought of card, but then it is picked. In general, a thought of card means a card only thought of.
- 3. Xabier responds:It's a thought of card. They spell that card and take whatever card is in that position, which may or may not be theirs. If it's theirs it's a fantastic coincidence, and you can even guess the card. If it's not, you can guess both the thought of card AND the card they're holding in their hand.
- 4. Chris responds:The spectator thinks of any card, they then use the identity of this thought of card to lead themselves to a second card.
- 5. Rob responds:Yeah I mean I get that, but if you think of a card then take it out of the pack, it’s not strictly a thought-of card. Anyway, I was probably too critical originally. If you hit with this trick it would be a killer, and it’s probably worth the ‘misses’ for those situations.
- 6. Xabier responds:You think of a card, then take a different one out of the pack. Not sure how that turns it into "not a thought of card". You still read their mind, not guess a card you can see.
- 7. Adam responds:You can't miss with this effect. They can think of any card, its spelt to and they have a selected card and you can hit on both the thought of card and chosen card every time. This is a killer effect.
Cedric asks: Hi! Is there any language restriction? Based on the full performance I saw, the spectator will have to deal cards one by one spelling a thought of card, so I fear the routine will not work for a non-English speaking audience. Is that correct? Thank you for your support.
- 1. Xabier responds:On a YouTube comment the Vanishing Inc team has said there are no language restrictions.
- 2. Cedric responds:Thank you for your answer, but Christian himself mentioned the spell has to be done in English in the comment section of the Vanishing Inc YouTube trailer.
- 3. Joachim responds:I also asked the team of Christian - the answer: "the routine is on english"
- 4. Xabier responds:Thank you for explaining that. I hope VI updates their comment on YouTube.
- 5. Stefan responds:Darn! I ordered this and just realized in the short explanation that it is language dependent.
Adam asks: If I struggle with dry hands will this impact me with this trick also? I.e. R&S
- 1. Josh responds:Get some Chamberlain’s Golden Touch lotion. Helped my dry hands a lot. Game changer
- 2. Keith responds:Use liquid vegetable Glycerin on your hands
- 3. Adam responds:Tried multiple remedies to no avail, those above included. Question still stands.
- 4. Nick responds:Jason England recommended a fingertip moistened like sortkwik, a dab on the back of the left hand, so the right thumb can ‘top up’ now and again
