Inferno

Watch the trailer to see this amazing effect in full! A named card appears inside a matchbox. Inferno includes the matchbox, cards, and everything you need to perform the effect. It also includes a DVD starring Joshua Jay, in which he teaches every facet of the routine in clear detail. It's a thought-of card in matchbox effect, and you should know the following points:
1. ALL you need for each performance is the matchbox. No cards are palmed in, and you don't have any kind of index. It's totally self-contained inside the matchbox.
2. There is no sleight of hand to speak of. If you follow along with the DVD once, you will be ready to perform the effect. There are a few things to remember, but technically, the effect is quite easy.
3. Everything is examinable at the end. When you're done, the spectator is holding her thought-of card, and the matchbox it came from. And, both props are totally legit.
4. Although the demo shows a close-up performance of Inferno, in fact the effect plays just as well (if not better) in a parlor situation. There are also no angle restrictions whatsoever. Do it surrounded if you like.
Rarely does an effect come about that fits in a shirt pocket and can be done anytime, anywhere. We hope you enjoy Inferno, and we know your audiences will.

My only wish is that it came with a pack of refills with it. Other than that - what a piece of art! Nicely done yet again Joshua Jay!

Inferno is essentially a thought of card in matchbox. This looks really good, and if you don't believe me, watch the trailer. One of the things I love about Vanishing Inc is that their trailers are so candid. No cuts, what you see is what you get! The reason I believe that this effect is better than others of a similar nature, is because everything makes sense. It's difficult to go more in to this without tiptoeing around the method, but trust me, it all makes sense! I have heard of many people who dislike lighting the match and blowing it out. I think, while you can't light the match everywhere, this really strengthens the effect. Inferno takes up very little space(just a matchbox) and can play for a couple people or large groups. Plus, at the end everything can be examined!
Overall, Josh Jay has another winner that is practical, easy, and amazing! Highly recommend!
HOWEVER, there are a couple minor issues, not related to the effect. Firstly, you need to give your contact info to another magic shop if you want to see the (excellent) instructions. Secondly, you can watch the instructions from their site but, near as I can tell, there's no way to download them. With this trick it's not such a big deal because one, maybe two, watchings of the indexed video should be all you need. Still, I feel more comfortable knowing I have control over the things I've purchased. And for a bonus issue, you can't make the gimmicks yourself. They should last for many performances and VM has replacements listed. However those replacements are out of stock and absent them over time you be unable to perform this excellent effect.
So, minor grips aside, get it (right now it's 25% off), learn it, and enjoy!

All this being said, I am taking away 1 star because only one set of gimmicks is provided and because the explanation feels a bit rushed at times. For the price, it would have been nice to see a back-up set provided and a slightly more in-depth explanation.
Everything has been thought out by Joshua and the motivation behind every “move” is perfectly detailed.
I have used this both as explained, and in conjunction with Angelo Carbone’s The Gift and it hits hard every time.
This comes with my highest recommendation and suitable for magicians and mentalists alike.
