A sell-out at Blackpool, “Lumino” is perhaps one of the strongest memorization routines we’ve ever come across. A deck is examined and shuffled by the spectator. After a few seconds of memorization, you can perfectly deal out the red and black cards. It is clear, direct, and incredibly impressive. Unlike many memorization effects, “Lumino” feels like real memorization without any effort.

With “Lumino”, you can even have a card selected, shuffled into the pack, and then separate the cards into red and black. At first glance, the audience thinks you’ve made a mistake, but it is actually the selection.

After working on memorization effects for a decade, Thomas Badar discovered a devious method that is fooling to magicians and audiences alike. This method allows you to know the next card’s color from a genuinely shuffled deck with no memory, no sleight of hand, and no peeks. Because it resets itself and doesn’t need a table, you can perform “Lumino” anywhere from strolling gigs to formal close-up shows. Best of all, “Lumino” is easy to do and could be performed with under an hour of practice.

Get "Lumino" today and add a reputation-making effect to your repertoire.

Customer reviews for Lumino

Skye
The method for Lumino is thoughtful and novel - it's sort of what I expected but even more clever than that. The possibilities for this as a scripted showpiece are really exciting; I can see this working well in performance settings ranging from casual to more formal. Such a smart and powerful piece of card magic.

This is an absolute miracle to perform. I have been waiting for months for this to become available. It is an audience stunner and the routine is excellent. Thomas Bader provides a great explanation on how to use the deck which is very easy. This can be performed with multiple people watching at the same time and there are no angles. It is best performed sitting down at a table. The only downside is that the explanation is a YouTube video and is not downloadable to your computer. This is highly recommended. A+++++++++++++

I've come to greatly appreciate Thomas Bader's approach to card magic and his ingenious thinking. The quality of the cards you receive are excellent, the teaching is clear and well-produced. What I appreciate most about Lumino is that it can be used for a wide variety of effects, so it feels more like a utility device rather than a one and done packet trick. Certainly recommend it.

But if I were picking a number of stars it would be 4. Why? The video is not downloadable. Bad move.
However, the basic effect is very easy to do and is a stunner! Well worth the purchase price.

This is a clever little effect that is heavily flawed by the difficulty of understanding the video instructions. Even the English subtitles were of little help since they were frequently nonsensical. Why in the world did they insist on having the creator, who has a THICK accent, be the one to read the script? Don't get me wrong: Badar speaks English far better than I could speak Spanish but that's not saying much. His wooden and mechanical recital of the script -- without intonation or emphasis -- makes it challenging to distinguish what's essential from what's incidental. Half-way through the video, when he tries explaining an effect with a chosen card, I suddenly realized I had totally missed him telling me about a certain deck "condition" that is a pre-requisite. My bad, yes, but also his. This makes me appreciate how valuable it is to have an effect explained by someone who has a decent command of English.

Lumino is indeed excellent! I've seen some comments on the video tutorial. I found no issue with it.... Once I went thru it...I found the effect so easy to do I really didn't need to recheck the video. (also theres a facebook group available to you).. not being able to download the video simply wasn't an issue for me. Its not likely you will forget how this works...so direct & simple.
I liked it so much I just ordered another deck..... One for practice & one for performance.....Til now I've never purchased any of Mr. Baders effects but after Lumino I just might change that. I hope you enjoy it this as much as I do.

While I really like Thomas, and I admire the effect here, as a product Lumino is unfortunately a mess. As others have alluded to, it falls apart in the short, nearly indecipherable video instructions, which are key when you want to learn a new effect. It's a shame, really, because otherwise it's a fine trick... I think... maybe...?

  • Simone asks: when eventually the deck wears out, can u make one yourself or are you forced to get a new one?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:You would need to purchase a new deck
  • Stuart asks: Will the gimmick wear out over time/with use?

    • 1. Don responds:There is no "gimmick" involved. It's a prepared deck. Subject to use and natural wear, it's the same as any other deck of Bicycles.
    • 2. Simone responds:but you can't use any deck i guess
    • 3. Roel responds:@simone: no you can't.
  • Steven asks: Are all the cards the same size , and can the be handed out to be examined?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Yes all the cards are the same size and can be handed out to a spectator, they wouldn’t notice anything
  • Roel asks: What do you purchase: a deck and some printed instructions?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Correct :) you receive video instructions
  • Rick asks: What is the skill level? (beginner, intermediate, etc)

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:This is beginner level but will require some practice to get it correctly every time
  • Octavio asks: Can you use the deck to perform other tricks?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:No this can only perform this effect
  • Winston asks: Where is the trailer for Lumino?

    • 1. Alejandro responds:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8ljL8ksrIw
    • 2. Robert responds:I see a question regarding using the deck for additional tricks. It was answered "No". I would DISAGREE with that. I have used the deck for various card tricks. Common sense required as to the type of trick you would do & how the cards are handled. If doing more than a couple additional tricks I would switch the deck out for non-gimmicked one. Simply break up the set with a packet trick and then ring in the regular deck if needed. Just a thought. Have a great day!
  • Michael asks: Is this a special deck? There is no video so it's hard to tell, but it sounds like you can just take any marked deck and do this effect.

    • 1. John responds:Full Performance video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8ljL8ksrIw or Google Lumino magic trick for several videos.
    • 2. Skye responds:The magician does not appear to need to sight the backs of the cards. I don’t believe this is a visually marked deck.
    • 3. Kevin responds:I saw Thomas perform this to some people at The Session. I do not believe he had all those magicians watching fooled using a marked deck. I thought it was an incredible trick; if it doesn't require the memorization, as they say, it is indeed amazing!
    • 4. Craig responds:Yes, it is a special deck. Is it marked? Well ... there are no visible marks you will have to read or spot.
