Mortenn offers two handlings for his deck-switching device, neither of which looks or feels natural, both dependent on advanced skills in misdirection. Mortenn's stand up version requires a strong pinky and perfect timing, and yet is still attention-gettingly unnatural, at least to my eyes. His tabled version is a simple transfer of the shell from the concealed deck on the table to the deck displayed in your hand — a brazen method, highly dependent on misdirection. I've been using Kuniharu Kobo's Vodka device for years. Mortenn's shell is related, but has the advantage of being able to be VERY freely handled. With very minor alterations, the basic handling for Vodka is adaptable to Mortenn's device and is MUCH easier to do and more deceptive than anything Mortenn offers in the instructional video. Mortenn's device looks more like a Bicycle card case than the Vodka gimmick and is made of durable plastic. Love the device, not so fond of the methods in the video, which, annoyingly, is not downloadable, if that matters to you.

  • Peter asks: Gregory Wilson’s Cold Case, sold by your good selves, was meant to be the best deck switch around, and - although it would appear this has other merits, in the actual execution, Gregory’s handling looks a lot slicker than this. But it never worked for left-handers. Does this work for left-handers? And before you say, no, but it’s really easy to learn. it’s not. One doesn’t do a deck switch often enough to relearn how to handle the deck. The work you have to put in just for that single moment, it’s just not practical. So a quick yes or no please. Is this primarily designed for right handers?

    • 1. Melissa responds:Check out Daniel Madison’s Fracture. It won’t be made of plastic, but you can reverse the construction for a left handed operation. Can’t say more without revealing, but Daniel released it as a free PDF and it is fantastic
