Customer reviews for Revolutionary Card Technique
TL;DR - If you have a card problem, Marlo has already thought of a solution(s), and it's probably in this fantastic book.
Long Version - The center deal has eluded me for over 20 years. Having small hands (I can barely palm a card without it leaking), most of the center deal methods I've encountered were frustratingly infeasible for my particular situation. Until I got RCT. Within its pages, I've happily found a method that is, with some minor adjustments, finally workable for me (i.e., The Step Center Deal). My technique still needs a lot of work, but I'm light years closer to a serviceable center deal than I ever have been.
No stone is left unturned. Every move in the book is broken down in painstaking detail: every finger position, every pressure point, every pivot point. Multiple methods and handlings are offered for each sleight. In other words, this book is complete. I'll echo what another reviewer posted - RCT is for the *advanced* card student. Noobs to card magic: work through The Royal Road to Card Magic first, then come back to this in a few years. Seriously. Add my name to those who've already given RCT their highest recommendation!
Keep in mind, I would not really recommend this for a beginner. What you'll find in here is advanced material that will be studied for years.

Linval asks: Is this book suitable for the lower intermediate practitioner or is it primarily for the advanced..?
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:It's a good middle ground. Some things are pretty easy, but there is also very advanced work as well.
Pierre-Daniel asks: Is there an erratum for the 1st edition? I read there were a few errors that slipped through.
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Not that we're aware of.
Jonathan asks: Maybe this is a stupid question (since this is number 1 in the triology) but would you recommend I read this or "Cardially yours" first? Isn't the stuff in that volume chronologically earlier work? Thanks!
- 1. Jim responds:It is chronologically earlier, but you can read them in any order.
Jonathan asks: Hi! Does this book contain only sleights/techniques or are there also some of Marlo's effects/routines in it?
- 1. Sacha responds:The book contains almost all sleights/techniques.
Dominic asks: Hi! I have ordered this book and should be receiving it in a week. Just wondering what would be the best way to work through it. Should I read the whole book and then go back to specific moves I like? Or should I look at one thing from each chapter and practice that? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Lucky for you, Andi wrote a study guide for Marlo. You can find it here: https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/blog/edward-marlo-study-guide/
Danny asks: Wondering if RCT is a book of Marlo ‘moves’ or, is it a book filled with more common moves? Eg. If I wanted to learn the Elmsley Count, would RCT be if assistance, or do I go to Card College?
- 1. Scott responds:Not to be flippant, but you ought to refers to BOTH sources --- Marlo's "RCT" as well as Giobbi's "Card College". And, to be honest, don't stop there. You will find that other card masters, and practitioners who have yet to achieve the honorific title of card master, offer their own useful insights, tips, and variations on particular moves and effects. (For instance, if you're interested in the Elmsley Count, you ought to check John Bannon's and Liam Montier's discussions --- to name a couple --- on that particular count.) The point is, don't limit yourself to one or two sources. Learn from many, and blend what you learn into your own technique. If you do that, you'll have no regrets.
Aylan asks: Will the revolutionary card technique be back in stock soon. Thankyou.
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Yes we are expecting it back in stock at the end of May, but this is not guaranteed.
