"Shuffled" is a breath of fresh air in a world of impractical and overcomplicated Card At Any Number solutions. Jos Denys offers a clever routine that we believe will fool everyone. The method allows you to remain practically hands off at all times, creating a test-conditions miracle. It's easy to do, extremely powerful, and something you can learn in minutes.
In effect, two envelopes are placed on the table. A spectator is invited to fairly shuffle and examine an ungimmicked deck. You then remove the two predictions from the envelopes. One envelope contains a playing card and the second contains a number. When the spectator counts down to this number, she finds the predicted card. There's no sleight of hand or open displacements: the card really is at the number the spectator shuffled it to.
- Use your own deck (any back design)
- Includes two versions
- Watch the full performance in the trailer; nothing is left out
- No sleight of hand
- Ingenious new method
You receive all the necessary gimmicks and a 45-minute instructional DVD featuring Jos Denys and Andi Gladwin teaching two routines using the principle (including one where the spectator's merely thought-of card is found at the predicted number).
Customer reviews for Shuffled
I have learned the hard way that there is always a "catch" or a compromise with tricks. But this one doesn't have one. The method is very clever. Andi says in the trailer that there are four different methods brought together and I think that's accurate.
This one is a true winner!
In all seriousness though, this is brilliant. And the thought of card at any number bonus is great too! 10 out of 10
This is one of the best-, clean and clever methods I've ever seen. With the right presentation skills this kills !!!!!!!!!
This fried me. One takes a teaser trailer with a grain of salt, expecting the genuine article to be somehow less satisfying. When the trick lives up to and beyond the advertisement, it is a refreshing gem. Such is the case with Jos Denys’ Shuffled, a clever twist on the Card at Any Number plot.
Along with the instructional DVD, Shuffled comes with the necessary prediction cards and simple prediction envelopes of a tough stock that should last quite a good number of performances. Which is good because, for me, Shuffled is going to find its way in front of a lot of audiences.
I saw anything other than the reality. That's the secret of this effect. Beautiful and clever thinking.
One- the box is not examinable so if the spectator picks up the box then the illusion could be spoilt.
Two- the gimmick can be a bit fiddly to create for the first time.
The biggest issue that I had with this DVD is that I found the instruction pertaining to the method wasn't explain clearly enough so I had to sit down and figure it out based on what I got from the DVD.
Overall though a great effect once practiced.
--Vanishing Inc. state in their Magic Cafe comments regarding this trick that the presentation in the trailer is accurately representative, and is NOT "best case scenario". This may be subjective, but I don't agree. Just as often as not, you will have to (i) ask spectator to further shuffle or cut once he/she has initially shuffled (you may need to repeat this more than once), and/or (ii) deal from the face of the deck rather than top. In the hands of a strong performer, this may not be remotely an issue. I personally, however, have a strong dislike for any presentation requiring dealing from the face -- it seems unnatural.
--As Andi mentions in the trailer, there are several methods at work. I view this as a negative in this particular case. I favor elegant and/or direct methods. The method here is fussy and rather complex. The explanations on the dvd are rudimentary and leave a fair amount for you to fill in. Not really that difficult, but you need to follow closely and construct the alternate scenarios yourself -- that said -- you will get there with frequent use of the pause and rewind buttons, and your thinking cap. But in my view-- some effect are "fun" to perform, either because you have mastered a slight or are deploying an ingeniously clever method. I like skillful or clever. This is neither -- it is a series of involved steps to carry out, that ultimately get you to the finish line.
With those caveats, I give this highest marks. If the two potential presentation alternatives (asking the spectator to further shuffle or cut, and/or dealing from the face of the deck) don't bother you, and you are willing to put in a modicum of mental effort to learn the steps, you will have an absolutely incomprehensible miracle on your hands, with zero sleight of hand required. This is direct and absolutely impossible to reconstruct.
But beyond that, it's an absolute MASTERPIECE from a design and creativity perspective. Whether you're interested in card magic generally, the ACAAN plot, mentalism, or solution construction in magic, this is an incredible lesson. Far exceeding the price of purchase, whether you ever use it or not.

What happens is that performer presents two envelopes, a spectator shuffles the deck, and two predictions. There is no sleight-of-hand or suspicious moves and the predicted card is revealed at the exact number chosen by the spectator.
It is very easy to perform and probably for most performers easy to learn. The instructional video, shot from a front-facing perspective, offers detailed close-up shots, leaving no room for ambiguity. With approximately 12 minutes dedicated to table-hopping performance (at the end of the video) viewers are treated to a comprehensive understanding of the routine’s versatility and adaptability.
There is a tiny DIY aspect. Close-up shots of the box being used in action provided insights into the mechanics behind the magic, enhancing the overall experience.
The instructions are straightforward, and the method is easy to grasp. It is accessible to magicians of all skills levels.
