Richard
I will buy anything with Dani DaOrtiz's name on it. I am at the core of this book's demograpic. But here's what you should know:

If you are expecting a large format book, you will be disappointed. The book is 6.5" square and has but 103 pages.

The quality of the book itself is poor. Mine came with a broken binding, as did the copy of the only other person I know personally who has managed to get a hold of a copy. As VI is sold out, replacing my copy would not be worth the time and the quality of the binding would still be dubious.

As to the content:
Thoughts on Magician's Choice
Cutting the Aces or Not
Little Seven (an attempt to reinterpret Ricky Jay's Suit Production)
Out of This World (Version 1300)
An Essay: The Working at Home Concept
Another Essay: Expectations
Triumph in the Spectator's. Hands
Triple Prediction
Improved One-Ahead
An Essay: The Third Time (a discourse on the rule of three)

DaOrtiz uses tools with which most of us are familiar but in such a way as to fool even the most savvy of magi. He had Penn and Teller absolutely baffled with the simplest of techniques brilliantly applied along with stunning misdirection. For me, this has proven a book of useful tidbits and wisdom. I don't regret my purchase, but I can easily understand the disappointment of others with higher expectations both for content and production values.

Great little book with interesting essays and tricks. It's not particularly large or thick for that matter. About 100 pages. I am a big fan so I ordered this for the collectors value. Not with the intent to sell but to own this book. Its very pricey for what you get. I don't regret buying the book but just be aware the price to value ratio might not be for everyone.

As others have said, it's a little disappointing.

There are some interesting essays but I expected much more.

It seems like the book was rushed and the effects are less than impressive.

I am a huge fan of Dani and his work both as a creator and teacher and as a performer. That said, SIX is not his best work and below his standard of excellence. Somewhat disappointing given how great Dani is. Given the high price I expected a book closer in quality to his last book. At about $40 it would be acceptable; at $100, too much.

If Dani would expand on the videos to elaborate on the structural and psychological principles to compliment the book and make these available to the purchasers of the book, it would go a long way to proving the expected value. The current performance only videos are too brief and don’t add significant value to the book/ purchase.

First time I had to write a review that is not a good one. I was expecting a lot of material from "Six". For the price it is a very small book with okay effects that I don't think I can use. Please don't get me wrong Dani DaOrtiz is an excellent card magician. When I seen him perform he is so off the earth good. I feel the book should have been much bigger with more effects along so I can have a much better choice of material than what was provided. The only reason I didn't give it a lower rating is because of the bookmark have a link to show all of the performances from the book. Dani DaOrtiz is his usual brilliant self. If anyone is thinking about obtaining this book please take caution. The book "Six" is okay not worth the price. The performance download is nice to have.
