"The Trick With a Name" is a new card routine from Piff the Magic Dragon that’s fun, powerful, and leaves your audience with a unique souvenir. After you pass out “Hello My Name is…” stickers, a participant selects a card. In an instant, their card is completely gone from the deck. Amazingly, they peel off their name tag to find that their card has been printed on the back the whole time. The best part? There's no complicated sleight of hand, angles, or dragon costume required. The most difficult bit is probably writing their name.

This versatile routine is perfect for any venue or setting, from stage and corporate events to close-up and strolling magic. It’s an engaging, interactive piece that can be performed anywhere you’d do a card trick. The trick packs as flat as a sheet of stickers, so you can easily take it with you anywhere.

I purchased Piff's 'Trick with a Name' immediately upon its release because I could see the enormous potential for performing this at cocktail party strolling gigs. This could work equally well as an opener, closer, or as a kicker revelation. After watching the tutorial, I felt that Piff's handling with showing a few blank back stickers was best suited for a parlor show where you'd want the effect to look as squeaky clean as possible. But when performing strolling gigs, you don't need things to flow naturally and quickly. So, what I learned is that if fold the stickers in an accordion type of manner the bottom decal will always show a "Hello My Name Is" frontside. Thus, there is no chance of accidentally 'flashing' a card sticker. So, in other words, simply take a set of 5 card reveals (pre-folded like an accordion) to your gig and nothing else is needed. For this reason, I hope that Vanishing Inc. will consider offering packages of only card reveals (no blank backs) to decrease the cost of the consumables.

Very simple to perform which allows you to focus on the presentation. The setup is minimal and you can prep everything beforehand so there is no reset needed other than pulling out more name tags from your pocket. A fun force is taught, that I've used in the past but haven't thought about for a long time. The clever part about it is that it also vanishes the card from the deck.

    • 2. Joseph responds:The add copy says that you receive 100 name (regular) stickers and 50 reveal (playing card) stickers. So I presume you get enough reveal stickers for 50 performances. I did not see any option for refills.
