TURN is just one of those tricks you have to see. So, stop what you're doing and watch the quick trailer--it's less than a minute long.

In short, this trick with four cards is an ADVENTURE. Cards change from blue to red to multicolored, and the faces change from blank to Queens to Jokers. But it's the smooth-as-silk handling that sets this packet trick apart. Dare we say, it might be the most efficient, amazing packet trick we've ever seen. It is certainly our VERY favorite Peter Pellikaan creation to date. Usually in tricks of this kind, there are necessary adjustments. You have to change the count you do, or move a card from top to bottom, or do a secret reversal, or take a card out, or add one in. GONE! In TURN, the handling looks identical in each phase, and one phase flows seamlessly into the next.

You receive a set of specially gimmicked cards and an easy-to-follow video tutorial.

Customer reviews for Turn by Peter Pellikaan

Jeffrey
Although some of Mr Pellikaan's stuff is rough to learn (gruff voice and one camera angle self shot) I have been able to learn some really clever stuff by giving it the time and effort. "TURN" however, is actually taught by "Nathan" (from VI)? and he does a fantastic job. This is a very easy effect to learn and perform and reset is next to nothing. What you see is what you get, ready to go out of the box.
Melchor
Relatively quick to learn for all skill levels and enough great beats to make it more than worth that twenty bucks.

The instructional video is great and covers everything, including the very quick reset.

Dope stuff.

Awesome!

This is a wonderful quick trick, but mine came without roughing it seems. I used the roughing stick from Vanishing Inc which works fine. I don't know if this is a common thing or just something that affect the packet I recieved, but I wanted to point out that you may not be able to perform it if you don't have a roughing stick.
Allan
I love packet tricks and this is no exception. The tutorial walks you through every step of the performance extremely clearly. The setup is explained in great detail. This is one of those effects that you can perform on a moments notice and will really wow the spectators.

"TURN" is one of the most magical packet tricks I have seen, which does not involve any difficult moves or sleight of hand, yet is filled with change after change, both faces and backs. There is nothing else I have seen in the way of packet tricks that packs so much visual magic into a few cards that you can carry with you in your wallet. For the cost, you receive a set of specially printed cards that are ready to use, and a tutorial which teaches you how to perform "TURN", and as a bonus, how to make your own custom set of cards if you desire. I highly recommend you check out the trailer and you will see how wonderful this effect is!
Stephen
I really love this effect. It’s simple yet effective and the video is excellent. Looking at the comments and questions, I can tell you this effect works well and the reset can be done in seconds.
Arthur Alexander
I love packet tricks. This has to be one of the better packet tricks that I've seen, which only involves one move and is nearly instantly resettable. This packs in so much visual eye candy and is something you can carry in your wallet. Highly recommended!
Lee
Great effect! I often wonder why folks ask "Do I have to learn how to do an Elmsley count or some other sleight?" with card tricks. If the answer is yes, step up out of your comfort zone a bit and learn a few moves. Many seem to only want "self working" tricks that take no practice (although self working tricks need practice, too). I'm certainly no master card manipulator, but I have learned a few of the basics which opened a whole new world for me in being to perform something that actually takes a little skill.
James
Great trick little practice and you got it
Walter
This is a worker! I am not skilled in moves that require significant manual dexterity, but I can handle the one move that the creators of this clever illusion teach with this packet of cards. The audiences for whom I've performed this trick (all small groups, close up) are consistently astounded and amused. That's a great outcome. I highly recommend this product!
Michael
very confusing explanation of trick
Matthew
A decent but not mind-blowing packet trick. In essence, you're doing the same move OVER and OVER, which is fine but does make it more likely someone will notice certain...inconsistencies (no matter how great you think you are. People aren't stupid). Bit expensive for what it is. I recently worked my way through John Bannon's Fractalicious, featuring 5 killer packet tricks for a similar price (Brainiac, JB's take on the B'wave plot, is worth the price of admission alone). Buy that before considering this. And if you do turn to Turn, experiment with the cards you use. To me the trajectory from blank to picture cards gets less amazed reactions than the reverse, which is perfectly possible with a bit of re-working. Also, worth noting that the cards I received were lacking in the secret magic stuff needed for the final display. Could be a one-off or a sign of quality control issues. To be fair, the VI customer service has been typically top-notch and they've gone out of their way to resolve this issue.

My experience:
By the time you practice TURN enough to show it, the roughing is worn off. It never was effective or reliable for me.

However, when I used the Roughing Stick generously, the climax of fanning the four colors works every time, flawlessly!

They should be sold together as one.
Jennifer
A brilliant packet trick!Superb!
Emilio
Fantastic trick. Easy to do and to learn. Very visual. Very easy to reset. Perfect for walk around.
David
This is a fun packet trick that's quite easy to do. You'll have to practice the setup and reset a few times, but that's not an issue. It's colorful, filled with several changes, and has a great ending. The slight slight needed is simple. Having a bit of extra roughing might help over time.
Dustin
I don't buy many packet tricks. It really has to be something special for me to buy it.
Bought I bought this one and it's probably my favorite!
Rob
I was afraid that this trick would require a lot of fancy sleights and sneaky manipulations. It doesn't. It does require only one "move" repeated four times. This is great for me because I have a terrible memory and always forget the sequence of required actions.
For me this a "WTF" on steroids. The only thing is that you can't throw the final reveal on the table, like you can with "WTF".
One thing that is missing in the instructions is a clear explanation on how to do a reset. It took me multiple viewings and screen captures to get it down. It would have been nice to include a PDF to show the setup. I ended up taking pictures and make my own PDF.
All in all this is a great effect and I'm glad I got it during the Black Friday sale.
Cassandra
This is a great trick for both beginner and more advanced. Easy to follow instructions and very little practice required for proficient presentation.
Jerry
Turn is a very nice packet effect by Peter Pellikaan. The instruction download is well done. It is very easy to follow and the steps are easy to learn. There is a section of the video that covers repair / replacement of the gimmick pack which is also nice. The effect is pretty straight forward, but you do need to provide your own story to add to the depth of your presentation. I did have a bit of confusion following the rest instructions, which was probably just me, but after watching it a few times that cleared up.

Overall it is a good packet trick to carry around. there is a lot of changes in a small time with easily master moves. Good impact in a small package.

Very nice card trick.you may have to devise a way to quickly remember the order and where the roughing is,such as a small pencil dot.
Jim
This is an amazing packet trick. Everything comes ready to go for you right out of the little packet. Uses Phoenix but the explanation shows you how to apply it to any deck you'd like. You have to have multiple colors of the back design you chose... However, for what you pay this is a really great packet trick from the master of this stuff. Taught well and after an afternoon of practice the routine and reset should be automatic.
Jake
A very easy trick with many magical moments! I have never found myself a fan of packet tricks, but I could see myself performing this! I loved how at the end of the tutorial It went in detail on how to make the packet, so I will probably spend a day working with some double blanks and a printer and see if we can come up with some adaptations!

This is a great effect and is surprisingly easy to learn and perform. I was performing this for myself almost instantly. The instructions were clear and direct and there is even a brief section at the end of the tutorial that teaches you how to repair and construct your own gimmicks.

Reset is honestly super simple, it is recommended that you go to the toilet after the effect to reset in secret, but it is so easy, you could almost do the reset right there in the open.

The cards come in their own little Vanishing Inc carry case too so they should be nice and protected when carrying them around in your pocket before and after the performance. Very impressed, I will definitely be performing this effect every chance I get!!

This effect is so quick, easy and powerful. I use it on my zoom shows and it kills. It's a great opener and because of the ease of this trick, you can really play up the presentation unique to your style. I definitely recommend this for anyone!
Jonathan
Turn is a great packet trick.

Only one sleight is used for the entire routine. I can’t say the sleight is entirely simple to practice, but I can say that most magicians will catch on quickly. The only issue I have is minor flashes that shouldn’t be a difficult problem with practice. I believe this effect can be done fully surrounded by spectators.

Turn may end up being your favorite packet trick.

my favorite packet trick 2021 just love it i love see people faces faces when i do it
Peter
This is a great effect. It can be amusing or you can create a story with it. The performers personality may add humour to the effect , especially if he appears not to quite know how the cards change. The count becomes very convincing when the left hand takes a card and moves away from the small ,pack in the right hand.. Get it. Its very good!

Michael
looks great in the trailer.other buyers have commented on lack of rouhing material.I have the same problem with my set. This is the first time I have been disappointed with vanishing inc.I have placed an order for a roughing stick.hopefully this will remedy the problem.Again,Very Disappointed!!
Jeffrey
this is such a good card trick and you learn how to build it.Iuse this a lot.
Laura Bautista
It's a nice packet trick. I really like small routines from which great things are not expected but instead manage to surprise the audience. With Turn you will achieve the effect that you can see in the trailer in less than 5 minutes of learning. Admittedly, I would have appreciated it if VI suggested purchasing the Roughing Stick along with Turn, since you're going to need it for the performance. It is suitable for beginners since it has hardly any hand sleights and almost no technique is needed. For the rest, it delivers exactly what it promises and you couldn't ask for more.
Thomas
Easy to do. Nice effect.
Gabriel
This is my first packet trick. It is simple to perform, requiring only minimal sleight of hand, yet has a highly visual impact and is easy to re-set.
Leland
One simple slight and terrific multi-component effect. Few illusions provide so many surprises for less investment in handling. Highest recommendation.
Jamie
It’s a nice trick but you need a roughing stick. The relevant cards aren’t “rough” enough.
I think the instructional video is particularly poor. There is far too much assumption.
The move should be better explained.
The order of cards is very unclear - if you make one mistake you’re completely at sea.
If you go to the very end of the video, you can work out how to re-order the cards, but for me, this step should be explained right at the beginning.
So all in all, great trick let down by poorly constructed gimmicks and badly edited video.
Enoch
Very powerful trick! I've had it for a while to be sure my review was accurate. I can honestly say that it is definitely one of the BEST packet tricks out there!
Very clear instructions, and the best part?
SUPER easy!
Jeremy
Packet tricks are not typically showpieces for me. They can be hard to present, as the presentations are often just descriptive. For me, it's essential to boost the energy level. You also need to manage the audience, as they may want to touch the cards, so think about how to handle that. There's only one move to learn. If you have experience with other packet tricks, you'll know what to do—just practice until you get it. It's not difficult; it just takes some time. The description is okay. Be mindful of sightlines; you need to tilt your hands down so people can see the cards without noticing the edges or thickness. This is an honest ad: what you see in the promo is what you get. However, the cards don't have strong enough roughing, so you'll need to touch them up with a roughing stick.

  • Steve asks: I purchased through Penguin Magic, but when I accessed the instructions, it brought me to your site. The cards I got from Penguin, were NOT prepared with the special extra something. • 1. Jim responds:Standard and poker-sized.
  • Neal asks: Not a question, but a lot of these comments don’t seem to understand how beautiful this effect really is. So what if there a kind of count that occurs a couple or three times or more? It’s a beauty that would be worth learning a new count to be able to perform. ( getting off my soapbox now.)

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Glad you like it!
  • Andrew asks: Could I keep this in my wallet? Or would the ware and tear compromise the method?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Yup. So long as it's not so tight that the cards warp.
