BKM Wallet (Balducci | Kaps | Mullica)

You can't tell from the photo what a classy item this is. Not only the the material, but the build quality is top shelf. I've seen way too many overpriced wallets that look like they were hand-sewn by street urchins who never saw a wallet and didn't know what it was used for.

On the side with the zipper compartment (the "Balducci/Kaps" side), there is an acetate id window (this alone separates it from much of the competition; lack of one makes wallets look fake) and a stack of credit card slots that have a an actual seam - they're not just slits cut into an overlay panel. As noted, the credit card guide is a really nice touch.

The "Mullica" side uses a leather checkbook cover for the insert - it's even made to allow you to lock the card in place so you can drop the insert and show both hands empty.

But for all that, you know what the the real miracle here is?

The price. How such a great wallet can be sold this cheaply truly mystifies me. If you like Card to Wallet, I have to think you'll love this wallet.

Be careful when ordering this. Mine did NOT come with the Mullica insert. The very responsive VI customer service eventually figured out that this Wallet is no longer produced as advertised or as seen in the video.

Everything else is there but the Mullica Cheque-book is NOT included anymore as far as I know.

I’ll start this review by saying that the BKM Wallet is very usable right out of the box and, in my opinion, is absolutely worthy of purchase. That said, I do have a couple of criticisms. The first—and most significant—concerns the Mullica insert wallet. I have been using a Mullica Wallet exclusively for decades. I got my first one when I was 15 years old, and it has been a true worker for me throughout my entire career. Because of that, I have fairly specific expectations when it comes to the construction and handling of a Mullica-style wallet. My main issue with the BKM Wallet is that the Mullica insert is made almost entirely of fabric and doesn't have enough rigidity or structure of its own. Even inserting a checkbook into it doesn't completely solve the problem. It reinforces the left side of the checkbook wallet, but the right side remains quite flimsy. This becomes an issue when reaching into the "guilty" side of the wallet to retrieve the selected (and signed) card. Unless the performer turns their body so that the spectator cannot look directly into the pocket, there is a possibility that the slit—and consequently the method—will be exposed. My recommendation for future releases would be to reinforce the insert so that it maintains its shape during performance. I would also consider making the wallet slightly larger. That additional size could provide better cover when performing completely surrounded, particularly in situations where using blocking or positioning isn't an option. That said, I am extremely happy with the Kaps/Balducci portion of the wallet. It handles beautifully and is very practical. There is one additional issue worth mentioning. The insert can occasionally catch in the seam of the wallet and become jammed. This can make a fast setup problematic at times. If that issue could be addressed in a future version, I think it would make an already excellent wallet considerably more reliable in real-world professional use. Other than those issues, the Kaps/Balducci portion is smooth as silk. **Final thoughts:** I will absolutely continue using the BKM Wallet in my professional work, and I am very happy with it overall. Despite the issues I've mentioned, I believe this is a highly usable and worthwhile wallet, and with a few refinements to the insert, it could become an exceptional worker.
