Magnetic Wand

I’ve been on a wand hunt, specifically looking for something that will work for Scott Alexander’s Chop Cup routine. This is the only magnetic tipped wand that I’ve been able to find that isn’t custom made. Unfortunately, I was a bit underwhelmed. It’s much, much smaller than I was anticipating - maybe about 8” long and the diameter of a pencil. In addition to looking too small (like a toy) in my hands, this size means that the magnetic properties aren’t strong enough to pull off the required maneuver in Scott’s routine. The little divots you see in the picture are also quite prominent. At first I thought maybe it was to facilitate the magnetic action, but after playing with it a bit, that doesn’t appear to be the case. It’s odd to me that they would make this kind of embellishment that draws attention to the wand tips which are, in fact, gimmicked. I’m not going to return it cause there’s nothing wrong with it. It just wasn’t what I was hoping for. Maybe someday, creativity will strike, and I’ll find a use for it, but most likely I’ll wind up giving it to a little kid as a magic toy to facilitate something basic like the penny to dime trick. The quest continues for a heavy duty magnetic tipped wand.
