A slow motion, piece-by-piece appearance of a coin at your fingertips.

Brought to you by the wildly creative Roddy McGhie, “Coinception” is a remarkably unique gimmick that allows you to perform a one-of-a-kind coin trick that looks like a dream brought to life.

With “Coinception”, you can show your audience what “really” happens when a magician produces a coin from behind your ear or out of thin air. The coin is actually being “formed” in real-time and you can prove it.

You start by grabbing a few atoms from the air and producing half a coin at your fingertips. A few more pinches of atoms are fused to create a three-quarters coin. Then, in the final phase, a full quarter is fused at your fingertips and can be handed out immediately for examination .

This is one of the most advanced upgrades on the classic bite-out quarter routines we’ve ever seen. There are no moving parts, magnets or rubber bands to be found. The brand new-concept used on the final phase will fool lay audiences and magicians alike. You’ll learn everything you need to know in the included expert instruction video.

The “Coinception” gimmick is very easy to use and super durable. It will last you countless performances. You’ll want to take it with you and perform it everywhere you go.

Available in US Quarter or 10 pence coin.

Customer reviews for Coinception

Mark
Although this trick was good in concept and method I had big problems with the small size of coin. Most people couldn't really see what was going on. I had to shove it in there face to get a good reaction. Wondering why it wasn't made in half dollar size.
Cayce
Wonderful effect and well made. Lends itself to some great stories if you want to go that route.
Gary
Got mine today and have already 'mastered it'. The gimmick is very well made and you can get away with some fumbling of sleights and still get a good outcome. I really like it. Gary H
Jonathan
Not what I expected. I won't use this.

This is one of my favorite coin tricks because it’s such a strange reproduction of a coin! I’ve been working on it while I was at my former job, and no one knows what I’m doing! I’m practicing! Haha!

Have a question about this product? It's possible others do too. Ask here and other Vanishing Inc. Magic customers will be able to respond with assistance! Alternatively, email us and we can help too.

  • James asks: Can you use this effect in reverse? Start this routine with a whole coin and pretend to take it apart in pieces than restore it like a torn and restored card?

    • 1. Kenneth responds:In theory, yes, if you come up with your own routine.
  • Michael asks: Do you have to ditch anything at the end, or are your hands clean?

    • 1. Andrew responds:There's a switch and ditch, though it looks clean. "Coin can be immediately restored and handed out to the spectator without any 'APPARENT' switch." Clever use of language, but you obviously can't hand out the gimmick.
  • Richard asks: Can we see a real full unedited clip of the routine? We get its a gimmick coin, we get there is a ditch, but can we see how it would actually look in person?

    • 1. responds:The fusing of the final piece at the beginning of the trailer is 100% unedited. Not sure why there are little jumps in the rest of the trailer. I assume it’s a style choice. I shot this little video for a friend so it wasn’t really intended for public consumption so please excuse me looking rather disheveled in my PJs and dressing gown :) https://youtube.com/shorts/6oGd6Qq53Pk?feature=share
    • 2. responds:The above vid is a straight to camera performance btw :) Roddy
  • Steve asks: In the demo video, why is there a quick edit/jump at the precise moment that the coin is made whole? In my opinion the demo looks very misleading for that reason.

    • 1. Richard responds:I totally agree, I feel the moment was edited as well
    • 2. Moosa responds:me too
    • 3. Woody responds:Yes, this video has been edited to hide the method, and yes, this is a misrepresentation of the product. One might argue that magic is deceptive by nature, but there is a difference between deceiving an audience for entertainment and deceiving a potential customer about the nature of the product you are selling.
    • 4. Woody responds:I would like to retract my previous answer. I don't see a way to do that, so this is the best I can do. Sorry.
