The Perfect Pen

A legendary visual masterpiece reborn. Your new favorite everyday carry is here.
Most magicians have probably performed John Cornelius’ classic "Pen Through Anything" at some point. The ability to pierce a borrowed bill with a pen, and show it from all angles to "prove" its gone clean through before audibly ripping and restoring the bill, is truly one of the most perfect illusions in magic.
There was just one tiny issue that tended to irk some magicians. While the bill was examinable, you couldn't hand out the pen without conducting some sort of switch first.
That was, of course, until the "The Perfect Pen" was released...
- No switches
- No ditches
- Fully examinable before and after the trick
- Can be used to write with
"The Perfect Pen" launched this amazing effect into miracle territory. However, it was eventually discontinued and has been unavailable for years.
That's why we are thrilled to let you know that "The Perfect Pen" is back. Unlike the imitations and knockoffs that have surfaced in recent years, this premium pen is classy and elegant. It doesn't look anything like a magic prop and can even be used to write with.
With "The Perfect Pen" in your pocket, you'll be able to easily perform mind-blowing Pen Thru Bill effect, or even pen through coins, business cards, ties or whatever else you can think of, at any time.
We have a very limited supply of these and expect them to sell out quickly. If you’re interested in seeing how this classic of magic has been improved, we urge you to act fast.
Customer reviews for The Perfect Pen
The product itself is a work of art and after learning a few basics, any magician could incorporate their own spin. On day one I combine 2 versions into one plus my own twist.
The penetration part of the pen works perfectly, but sadly it cannot be handed out for someone to scribble with, nor can you handle it like a real pen. Hopefully the next iteration will fix this and it will be a 5-star perfect product.
Some things to keep in mind!
The cap is met to be loose on the back, its not a baton. Watch instruction videos for why its loose.
The pen looks high end but bare, not typical of high end pens. Luckily, there are many methods that you can use to decorate or personalize the pen.

Upon handling the pen for a few days the part inside of the cap that makes the gimmick work has caused the entire pen barrel to turn copper looking.... It literally looks like it was made of rose gold now..... It completely ruins the effect of the pen and kind of makes it impossible to use the way it was intended.
If you do buy this, I would buy one for handling and one for using with your spectators.
I do wish that there were more detailed instructions, though.
This is really remarkable!
So happy I found this.
Highly recommended!
Brilliant!
Very pleased!
It's not until you try it yourself that you realize that you won't be using any other gimmick for this routine. It really is the perfect pen!
It will need some kind of maintenance in case you use it quite A LOT, but I guess it's not something you won't find easyly on the drug store.

Preston asks: I can't for the life of me get the tip to attach at a 90 degree angle (necessary for a few more visual penetrations), it always snaps into place at the end. How can I fix this?
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Email our Support Wizards and mark it for the attention of Jim Krenz - he has a lot of great work on this and I am sure he will be able to help! (wizards@vanishingincmagic.com)
Jacob asks: I really like the product but after one evening of practice the sides of the pen look all scuffed up from the pen cap and there are clear lines where the cap ends when placed on both ends which will make it look suspicious. I'm trying to return for maybe one that is not defective but having trouble with the website. Also, at the front of the pen there is a very small gap right after the point reaches the main barrel and if someone pushes on the tip it has a bit of give which might be a tip off as no others pens have a tip with give in it. The only other thing is there is a 'sound' when you use this device so maybe a future version could have a micro cushion layer to make it silent as that would help the overall effect. I really like it but with the cap scratching the barrel it's a bummer.
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Please email our Support Wizards at wizards@vanishingincmagic.com and someone will take care of you.
Patrick asks: My cap sits very loosely, and slides off randomly. Obviously this makes it a little tricky to gesticulate and misdirect. Any ideas how to address this? Thanks
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:If you contact us at magic@vanishingincmagic.com we'll fix this issue for you!
Edward asks: If a spectator is in possession of both pen and paper for examination, would they be able to discover the secret? Would THEY be able to actually perform the illusion? I ask only because I've performed before some very smart individuals and have been called (after the fact and privately) by some.
- 1. Edward responds:Never mind. I studied the demo and can honestly say everything could withstand close examination.
- 2. Thomas responds:I would not give a spectator both the pen and cap simultaneously.
- 3. Thomas responds:I would not give a spectator both the pen and cap simultaneously.
Edward asks: Can the bill be borrowed and returned?
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Yes.
Avi asks: Hi, is it possible to change the ink refill?
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Yes, but it will take some DIY work.
Ian asks: Does this work with UK (plastic) notes please?
- 1. John responds:yes
- 2. Patrick responds:Yes. But be a little bit careful with those for two reasons: (1) Although they are polymer notes, they can actually tear quite easily if stressed the wrong way. So be prepared a trip to the bank to change it for a new one. (2) The polymer notes have see-through areas. You will need to be very careful to hold it in the right orientation not to let them see the gimmick already on the other side of the note just before you penetrate it
Todd asks: Can the pen be moved around after it has penetrated? Or is just through then removed?
- 1. Jim responds:Technically it could, but I wouldn't perform it that way.
Chuck asks: Seems odd how the pen changes length and quite obviously.
- 1. Jim responds:When handled properly, it does not change length.
- 2. Edward responds:cover the end with your hand.
- 3. Thomas responds:Use the cap on the end of the pen and slide it the respective length up and down to create the effect that the pen has always the same length.
Mark asks: Is this any different to the original release. Have any new features or touches been added. Many thanks
- 1. Jim responds:Minor differences, but the method and main parts are exactly the same.
