A regular Sharpie visually melts right through a bill.

Pencil thru bill and pen thru bill effects are as old as time. They're truly magical moments that leave every audience amazed. With "The Pen Thing", Alan Rorrison takes this concept to an entirely new level.

"What an incredibly clever solution to the pen through bill plot! Typical Rorrison brilliance." Roddy McGhie

Created in conjunction with Mark Mason Presents, "The Pen Thing" implements a new gimmick, method, and completely revamped handling. It's an easy-to-do, visual masterpiece you'll love performing.

And the best part? The Sharpie is completely normal and examinable. It's the same Sharpie you have used, or can use, throughout the rest of your performance. No switch required

  • No slots
  • No slits
  • No shells
  • Fully examinable sharpie (no switch)

You borrow a bill and have it signed with the Sharpie. This signed bill is then wrapped around the Sharpie which is shown to be clearly inside the bill. Then, slowly and visually, the Sharpie melts right through the bill. They won't believe their eyes!

"The Pen Thing" by Alan Rorrison is the perfect close up magic EDC for professional magicians and hobbyists alike.

"A practical evolution of a classic method with a familiar prop and a simple, streamlined handling." Paul Wilson

"A beautifully visual piece of magic that can be examined and used as part of your every day carry. Alan has knocked it out of the park again with a stunning piece of magic." Matthew Parrot

"Like it's creator, The Pen Thing is devilishly brilliant. It is one of the very few non-card items I keep on me when I am performing." Peter McLanachan

Customer reviews for The Pen Thing

Allan
The Pen Thing is cleverly gimmicked and fairly easy to do. There are several "convincer" features which are unfortunately lacking - and which sets this apart from the calibre of Misled. The handling too, in my experience, is less elegant and more clunky than Misled. The "convincers" in Misled - tearing sound, appearance of penetration, pen nestling in bill - make it a much stronger effect overall.

  • Youssef asks: How does it differ from Alans Sharpie through bill? https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic-dvds/sharpie-through-bill/

  • Joshua asks: Do you have to ditch anything or are you left completely clean?

    • 1. Gary responds:The answer is in the trailer........
  • Mark asks: So, if I understand correctly: you receive a gaffed Sharpie that can be used with any currency, without restriction?

    • 1. Gary responds:Just watch the trailer again.......
    • 2. George responds:If you watch the trailer you can see the one visual convincer that this effect lacks, and what makes Misled (still) such a great trick. This will not fool magicians. I think it will fool some spectators, but (IMO) not many.
  • Jonathan Kaplan asks: I don't get it. Despite the name change, how is this significantly different from the MISLED that's been around for ages, not to mention all the other variations that one can find under other ends on YouTube? To my eyes it looks identical! - - - - Jonathan

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:The gimmicks are totally different and Misled is done with a pencil and The Pen Thing is done with a Sharpie.
  • Jan Hendrik asks: Is a sharpie included ?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Yes
  • Ben asks: Will this work with Uk polymer notes?
