The magician shows 2 coins, a Chinese (with a hole in the center) and a half dollar. He puts both coins inside of a white envelope. Then he take the Chinese coin and put it on the closed envelope. With a magic pass, the Chinese coin will be inside of the envelope and the half dollar outside.

The American half and shell can not be separated. I have a few bang rinds that work on all my shells but will not separate this shell.
On the bright side, I used my shell and half and the trick works like a champ. So if you're starting out with coin magic don't buy this early in your career. Wait till you can use this without spending more money.
