After hesitating between several close-up pads, I decided on this one and I certainly don't regret it at all. If you are looking for quality, softness, lightness and ease of transport without deformation or damage, this is your option. The sewn edges also enhance the durability of the mat, which is a plus. Super happy with my purchase!

This pad has no "nap". The fabric is nothing like a velour. You cannot slide your thumb over to a card, catch the edge and pick it up. Your thumb just slides over the card as if it were glued to the surface. This necessitates pushing down substantially on the card's opposite edge to get the front edge to pop up. This also makes riffle shuffles difficult. I had no such difficulties on my old pad that has since fallen apart. My search continues.
