Never bought any John Carey products before, but really liked the look of this book so knew I had to get it. It arrived today. Just been browsing through it, and very impressed! The book itself is quite small, jam packed with goodies. It's virtually a page a trick (sometimes two) but each trick is explained well. However, you do need a basic knowledge of card and coin techniques (as far as I can see) which most here should easily have anyway. A complete beginner might want to pick up the first two volumes of 'Card College', by Roberto Giobbi (which should easily cover all sleights in this book) and maybe a copy of 'Bobo'. However, there is nothing difficuilt here. There are also QR Codes that teach you tricks (some of which are not listed in the contents, such as one video that has 10 Sandwhich effects), sleights, and even a 3 hour lecture.
I have over 200 books in my collection. I can see this being a favourite of mine. How about a second volume covering the best of your DVD's?
This book is great for everyone. I especially recommend it to anyone who has a good basic grounding, and wants a book with tons of great effects they WILL be able to do.

Craig asks: It is somewhat frustrating that for a number of the videos linked to by URLs / QR codes it goes to the correct page but there is a message "Sorry this video does not exist". It would be great if Vanishing Inc could make them available in the downloads of purchasers of the book particularly as some effects - e.g. 'Yours and Mine', are not written up in the book and have a page with a large QR code but no video.

- 3. John responds:I would second the previous gentleman's feedback, there are routines within the grasp of beginners, intermediate level, and advanced cardicians. Intermediate and Advanced workers will know how to add or deploy additional deception to the easier routines for extra color and flavor.
