To me, books of any subject or genre are precious and to be honored.
This book brings us effects of some of the greats with minor variations.
Yeah, so there may be some typos, but so what?
I’m happy to have added this to my library.
Definitely worth exploring.

If you're familiar with Tom's work, this book won't disappoint. It's mostly a hodgepodge of moves and bare tricks, collected over the years through his interactions with other sleight of hand experts. Not everything is hard, but I'd argue that the "hard" stuff is the interesting one. For example, there are a couple of triumph-like routines which, though they are academically interesting, aren't really an improvement over the original. There are nuggets, such as a one-handed Ascanio spread, and some hops by Jack Carpenter.

My main concern: there's been less time spent on editing compared to some other books of his: typos in the text, unclear explanations, and (if I remember correctly) some illustrations not matching the text.

It still is a great addition to my collection; Tom and his friend's stuff is full of what I love to use in sleight of hand.

It is a fantastic book: a lot of card tricks and sleights, and some close-up tricks, very well described and with nice and numerous drawings. Contributions from Tom Gagnon, but also from Bernard Bilis, Gordon Bruce, Dai Vernon, Edward Marlo, Roger Klause, Jean-Jacques Sanvert and from a lot of other experts!
It 's worth the price!

    • 1. James answers: All the effects in this book are unpublished. That includes the Vernon and Marlo material.

    • 1. Newell answers: As the editor i can tell you the Vernon material has NOT been previously published. Similar for the Marlo material. Permission was granted for inclusion in this book. Tom and I were quite strict in including only unpublished material.

  • john asks: Is there a link to online tutorial for the book? Beautiful cover.

    • 1. James answers: There are no online tutorials. If you like the cover look up scratch art. This is how it was done. It’s not drawn. The cover of avant cards, the first big book of Tom’s, was done the same way and by the same artist.
