Grips, Lines and Looks is the definitive work from FISM award winner Marc Oberon, finally revealing his complete system for choreographing and structuring performances to elevate them from simple tricks to powerful moments of real magic.

If you have ever wondered how to increase the impact of your existing repertoire of material, this beautifully presented 128-page hardback book and DVD contains the answer - the system that Marc has used to create professional routines that have won him awards at FISM, European Close-up Magic Championships, the IBM British Ring competition and the Macmillan International, amongst others, as well as entertaining audiences at high-profile gigs across the globe. Grips, Lines and Looks details the exact approach Marc uses and explains how you can apply the same system to every one of your own performances.

"Reading your thought process gave me an amazing insight into why you did so well at FISM... The magic world is really lucky that you are sharing your thought process." Richard Young

"Marc Oberon has managed to create a very 'practical theory' with Grips, Lines and Looks. It is an approach to performing that all magicians should review and consider in an effort to raise the level of their performance." Pete Wardell

"I think you have some brilliant thinking here and if nothing else will invite the reader to question whether their own magic is as strong as it could be. Very thought provoking - on track to be a very useful work for any serious performer." Nicholas Einhorn
"I've always admired Marc Oberon's artistry. Of course, his magic is always of the highest quality but there is something else, those intangible qualities that mark out a true performer from someone who does some great tricks. If you are serious about PERFORMING and want your performance to become closer to art then this is the book for you." Marc Paul
"With study and practice, it's IMPOSSIBLE not to improve your magical performances if you purchase this time." Dee Christopher
"Marc Oberon is on top of his game. His new book deconstructs what makes his magic so magical." Andi Gladwin
"Beautiful quality from cover to cover. Smart practical routines with mind expanding theories."

Customer reviews for Grips, Lines and Looks

Larry
It's a fairly good book, although pricy in my eye.

You do get a few tricks which I didn't really expect.

And you get some ideas on choreography, flow, hands, etc.

But it's definitely NOT a detailed look into any of this. Fairly generic. Heck, this section is only 58 pages long.

For example, the author discusses AETHETICS. "Does the move look good? Here we consider elegance of line, balance between the hands, symmetry of position and motion, eloquence of gesture." And that's really the end of that discussion.

But elegance is subjective at best, and if you decide it looks bad....no advice is given on making it look good.

So.....good on paper, but not a lot of practical help.

It's still a decent read. Theory never hurts, and being aware of theory is always nice.

So - yeah, pretty good book. Pretty not-great price.

The tricks are good.
