I confess I haven't read the whole book yet. The reason? To be able to practice the first routine I need to master Biddle grip, top change, top card palm, break above two bottom cards, double turn over, Elmsley count, half pass, Asher twist, pinkie break, Illogical double lift, Flustration count. So the book definitely is not for the beginners, as these "elementary" moves/sleights are not explained in the book. The layout of the book is nice, photos clear and serve their purpose (be warned: Tobias is left handed!).For the most of the tricks there is a QR code to lead you to the presentation of the trick or move used in it. If you are like me you'll find the style of Tobias humorous and very entertaining.

Let me say first this is a challenging book. It's sleight heavy but absolutely worthwhile. The way that the routines are approached is really interesting. The production values of the book is excellent and it reads like a dream. Everything is explained in detail. Get this!

Is a good book and Tobias is a very good performer. The only thing which is really frustrating is the writing style. I am finding very difficult to follow the handling reading the book in fact I wish there was some video explanation other than the performance.

I was drawn to this book by its title, "Modular Card Magic," but let me say right from the start—there is nothing "modular" about it. This is just a compilation of random tricks thrown together without much thought.
The writing style is irritating, and the instructions are hard to follow. Reading it felt like sitting in on a jam session with a load of ideas but nothing truly refined. Overall, this is one of the worst books in my collection.

I really wanted to like this book, but I don't. Matter of fact, Modular Card Magic might become the fist book ever to leave my collection. Yes, I think it's that bad. The style of writing is incredibly juvenile at best and horribly annoying at worst. It reads like a couple of adolescent boys talking, trying to impress each other with crude jokes and lame stories.
The effects are scantly explained. Are they doable? Yes, but it takes great care to figure out what the author is trying to get across. Tobias should have spent more time on explaining the effects and less time on trying to sound hip and cool.
The one saving grace of this book are the first few essays in the book. The essays are well written- clear and concise, no confusion, with good thinking points to ponder. However these first few essays are not worth the price of the book.
Save your precious time and read something else.
