Wow what a book. I got this with one degree and was worried that the tricks would not be as good as one degree but these are excellent. If you are a card magic lover you will love this book. Very clever methods and not to knuckle busting either. I can highly recommend this book. Get this before it sells out.

John Guastaferro is great at creating effective, workable close-up magic that's well-structured without being remotely knuckle-busting, and The Nth Degree offers a strong collection of pieces - mostly using cards - that exhibit a refreshing variety in plot and technique. You'll find mental-themed magic here that's more reliant on subtlety than sleights, punchy visual effects that look just as good in real life as they would on social media, and card effects that can play strongly both in intimate settings and to larger rooms. If you loved One Degree, you'll love The Nth Degree just as much.

I bought this from a sale and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the tricks. I'm very picky about which tricks I want to practice but I found multiple tricks in this book. Freestyle Aces is the best version of Specator cuts to the aces plot that I have seen. The essays are rubbish, but the tricks more than make up for them.

Tricks like “Blank Slate,” his blank-deck opener, and “Double Vanish,” a beautiful slow-motion deck disappearance, show exactly how a tiny tweak can transform a routine into something your audience will talk about later. His “Reign of Tearer” torn-card effect genuinely fooled me when I first read it, especially the extra surprise ending where even the discarded pieces magically match—such a clever refinement of Woody Aragon’s idea. I also loved his take on the “Omni Deck” concept in “Crystal Clear,” which adds an extra moment that makes the whole thing feel even more impossible. Beyond the tricks, the six essays really stood out to me because they’re written in such a friendly, encouraging tone and cover creative ideas I know I’ll come back to often. Plus, the book teaches several new sleights, like the Smooth Criminal Display and Proximity Peek Control, which even a hobbyist like me can learn with some practice. The whole 158-page hardcover is beautifully produced, with clear photos and explanations that make the material easy to understand. Overall, The Nth Degree feels like sitting down with a wise mentor who shows you how fun and powerful small improvements can be—a book I know I’ll be using and revisiting for years.
