Customer reviews for Openers

Gerhard
This book is excellent value for money. I have read a large part of the book and not every trick is a home run, but there are some really great magic tricks in the book. Some of the tricks are a rework of old plots some I have not seen before. The production values are ok. It's a softback but all in all good value for money.

Of the two books (Openers & Closers), I think this is the stronger of the two. There are some good effects here and some interesting inspiration. I think with any trick book, however, it's always worth asking if you'd buy any of the effects, or collection of the effects, as a download. If so, then the book is worth its purchase as you always get waaay more from a book (look at anything brought out by John Bannon).

The book Openers is a nice book for references. There is a mix of Walk around and close-up magic that one should at least be interested performing. It is a soft back book with a nice layout along with easy to understand magic effects. If you need ice breakers this book does have ideas and suggestions on what effects to do first. You can't go wrong with any of the effects in this book. It would depend on you on how to perform and what to follow with the next effect. I found that there are some effects that may not be okay to perform. However; I would use them later down the line of my set.
Note Perfect by Jasper Blakeley is a nice mentalism effect that requires very easy to obtain props and best of all easy to perform. There are many contributors to this book. Openers is a nice book to have in your library. Who knows you may go back to it for ideas on starting your walk around or close-up set.
