"The Genii" is a fun updated take on the classic prayer vase magic trick designed for modern performers. It's a fantastic magic trick for beginners.
You show an empty Genie's bottle...well it's almost empty. There is a Genie inside and you can prove it by placing a piece of rope in the bottle. The Genie grabs the rope and does not let go! you hold only the tip rope and the bottle is floating in air!
At your request, the Genie lets go. The rope can now be taken out of the bottle by your audience member. There is nothing to be found inside the bottle. The Genie does exist!

I have several larger versions of the classic effect, sometimes referred to as a Prayer Vase, that I use during my formal close-up shows. But, I was looking for a smaller version of the effect to conveniently carry in my EDC bag. I saw and ordered The Genii by Apprentice Magic that was offered by Vanishing, Inc. because it looked to be perfect for my EDC needs. The Genii arrived in short order, thanks to Vanishing, Inc.’s excellent customer service. The Genii vase and accompanying rope was secured in a nice cardboard box which will be appropriate for storage of the effect and for safe transportation. The nice looking black plastic Genii vase is 4 inches tall, quite well made the effect is very reasonably priced. The white rope is 10 inches long and nicely taped on each end to prevent fraying and to insure proper insertion into the mouth of the vase. The ‘gimmick’ is simple but adequate for easy manipulation of the effect and makes the trick seem truly magical. And, the vase and rope can be examined before and after the trick. The seven minute video tutorial is studio quality and covers easy to understand handling instructions along with several performance ideas. So, if you’re interested in a nice quality and reasonably priced trick in which a length of rope is inserted into a vase which is occupied by a genii who makes magic happen, The Genii is definitely worth your consideration. Highly recommended.
