So, it was truly an honor when he agreed to be part of Vanishing Inc. Masterclass.

Chris Kenner has been producing magic and business affairs of David Copperfield for years. He's also a master sleight-of-hand artist and esteemed innovator in his own right. But, prior to the launch of this amazing download, the chance to learn from him was extremely rare.

In 1992, Chris Kenner released his first, and only, magic book filled with his own material called Totally Out of Control. This landmark magic book changed close up magic forever. It was the birthplace of some of the most famous magic tricks ever like the classic Three Fly coin magic plot and is even believed to have inspired magicians to learn cardistry and enhance their card magic with playing card flourishes by introducing the magic world to the Sybil Cut.

Kenner helped usher in a new, looser era of magic, with a focus on standing up while performing magic that was visually stunning. Yet, until now, that book was one of the only ways to learn his magic. And since Totally Out of Control was discontinued years ago, getting your hands on a copy is no easy task.

The material he shared here was awesome, and as someone already familiar with his material, the tips on the 4 for 4 and the handling of five speed were very helpful. It did feel hard to follow whether he was demonstrating a trick as a principle for a further effect, or if it was a standard performance. Only reason for 4 stars was the pacing, and crediting on the last principle.

FANTASTIC LECTURE!

Chris Kenner is a legend, and too often when legends lecture, I am tempted to quote the old song “is that all there is?” This, however, was not the case with Mr. Kenner’s class. He choose several things out of his book (OOC) and showed how they should look while giving fantastic tips on each routine.
I particularly enjoyed his 4 for 4 switch and the incredible work that he has done on this. I can see many uses for this in walk-around work. This was incredible to see the switch, know what Chris was doing, and yet still not be able to catch the move.
Next was work on false shuffles. The combination of the Zarrow and the push through adds an entirely new dimension. The points on the Zarrow combined with the push through were worth the price of admission and I will be working on this for years to get it looking right. There are many, many fine points that will repay the watching and re-watching of the class. Anyone who is working on the “push through” or the Zarrow will find gold here.
My favorite part was the work on the reverse spread control. This move has been around for a long time, but Mr. Kenner has breathed new life into the control, making it a full system. If you are not familiar with this move (sometimes called Lee Asher’s “Losing Control”) it is simple in form yet will require much practice to keep from “butchering it.” Chris’s advice about learning to do things with either hand is great and will make this control (which is already good) fantastic.
All in all, a great class with much material that will repay careful study. I am incredibly excited about the next two weeks!

The four for four switch and reverse spread control both appear to be versatile tools that can be applied far beyond the applications taught. I now have a week to practice this material in preparation for class two next week which I am looking forward to viewing. Chris is a talented lecturer, teaching amazing material, Well done.

Kenner was great with tricks and anecdotes like last week, i liked how some of it built off of last sesh! however, I wish the pacing and live audience had been acknowledged more .There were connection issues, and it sorta defeats the purpose of it being live with a chat if he feels rushed to meet his time or doesn't see what we say. I know the set list was a bit ad hoc, but knowing the props to have ready in advance would be helpful, it felt like he spent the longest time on the cigar effect, which I'm sure none of us had the props on hand for. Still am looking forward to the 3rd sesh!

Excellent class! Very good balance between effects and theory. I love learning new effects (like the multiplying cigars without sleeping), but at this point in my magic life I feel I get more from the “why” things are done as opposed to “how” they are done.

As Chris pointed out, the “why” things are done are applicable to different effects, from close-up magic to stage magic. Plus, it was good to hear Chris touch on subjects I’ve heard other magicians touch on too (such as Bob Read saying he felt misdirection starts at the feet).

Another very informative lecture from Chris Kenner. His approach to relaxation postures, body language and double lift handling is worth the entire price of all his lectures! I'vd dropped using the double lift, but after seeing his approach to it, I will now go back to doubles. This lecture was well worth it!

Wow! I am blown away after the first two weeks of the Chris Kenner Masterclass. The thought that goes into the presentations is equally as impressive as the effects themselves. I have been a fan of Chris Kenner for years and never thought I would get the opportunity to learn from him in such an up close and personal way. As you would think, the production values are crazy good from the varying camera angles to the lighting and sound quality. This Masterclass is in the must see category.

Well wow is all I can say, Criss Kenner is such a nice bloke and a very good teacher, I’ve been practicing the very first effect on week one, the optical illusion effect and I have to say wow this is great so practical and very visual and the killer ending at the end will make jaws drop I guarantee, best of all very easy to do?? I give this coarse a 10/10????

I love this man more than my own dad. He has wit, skills, and a wealth of experience. Of course, most of the material you will never use but he packs in principles and methods that you WILL use. I've been adding a few sleights that he taught in week one to my strolling routine. For $50 this is a steal, also the money goes to charity (is this lecture a tax write-off ??).
Chris Kenn-dog is the man! Get this lecture.. There is something for everyone and most likely you will never see again.

I mean Mr. Kenner is a consultant to David Copperfield for a reason. I didn’t even watch the whole class yet but I know that all the material is amazing useful stuff. He covered every detail with every effect he showed us. The main reason I subscribed was this master class and I don’t regret at all.

There is so much here that I need to take stock of and watch and watch again. The great great teachers are able to turn the complex into the most simple and I was nodding along and thinking yes - Chris is right. That’s so obvious- why have I been over complicating things.

This has made my magic better and can’t wait to spend more time watching and rewatching.

This Master Class was my very first and, to this day, stands to be one yet. I've watched it 3 times now and still grabbing nuggets of information. I was thinking about buying a shell to learn some coin tricks. No shell required here. Who knew? Now I'm searching to snag his out of out of print book "Totally Out of Control". Get this lecture series. You'll be glad you did.

This has been one of the best Master Classes from a true master at his craft. It was great to see things from Totally Out of Control in the hands of the creator. I loved how Chris showed how he changed some of those effects around and the invaluable tips he provided. This is a rare treat as magicians in the know are aware that Chris has not done a lecture in years. Chris's material was ahead of it's time and most of everything he has put out or published is still relevant today. This goes without saying that we truly stand on the shoulders of giants. Despite if you add anything taught in this master class to your own repertoire just the advise that Chris gives and the reasons why he did certain things was worth the price of admission. Chris emphasize the importance of being natural when performing and provided many other tips to make your own magic more powerful and most of all be yourself. Thanks again Chris and Vanishing Inc for another fantastic master class.

OK, this is a good one. It seems like these Masterclasses are shot using the lecturer's own camera equipment and location. This comes across well in this instance, since Chris has a nice location and nice camera equipment. So the production on this one is nice. But I digress. The tricks are good. Really good. And Chris goes over some tricks in his book, one of which I could never decipher methodologically from the printed page (a rubber band trick). You get tricks that are off the beaten path, executed well. There are a couple times where Chris laments his performance abilities as he executes the tricks, since it has been awhile since he performed them. However, this doesn't distract from the awesomeness. Moreover, it comes across as genuine. It is clear that Chris has chops. Long story short: I loved Chris's series of lectures, and I will revisit them.

I have just finished watching the second week on the masterclass which was really enjoyable except for the beginning when for me he did go on to much with the story telling however he did teach some very nice tricks and I certainly liked his touches on the double lift, so I have still given this a five star rating and will now look forward to week three to see his 3 fly routines as it is one of my favorite routines so this masterclass comes recommended.

Chris Kenner is one of the greatest close up magicians alive. I've been a fan for years. His skills are off the charts. His ideas are superb. But he rarely lectures. His book is out of print for some reason. So the chance to take a masterclass was a dream come true. There's a saying. Those who can't do, teach. And my version, "Those who can't teach, teach magic." Not true here. Chris teaches clearly. Step by step. He explains. He takes the difficult and makes it simple. At $75.00 it's an investment but would I pay $75 for a private lesson with him? In a second. And that's what this download is. Five big stars.

If you want amazing tricks this is not the right masterclass, however if you want to level up your game and think as a pro this is for you. Kenner shares his decennial experience along Copperfield and, believe it or not, you will want to shave most of your double lifts after listening to him. Good stuff.

I bought Chris Kenner Masterclass a long time again. Been watching each lesson a little at a time "slowly" and just finished it. Chris Kenner does teach great tricks here, but it is not loaded with only tricks.
My interest in any lecture is not "teach me more tricks." I prefer theory, how to make my own magic better, and I enjoy learning new moves. Chris gave me all this and more.
His personality is enjoyable and his thoughts on magic performance are so important. This is a great Masterclass to study and come back to time and again.
