Cera is a direct evolution of the classic swami gimmick, the tiny device behind some of the most impossible feats in mentalism. Gonzalo has made it into a modern, elegant, accessible, and powerful tool for the modern mentalist.

With Cera, you can perform some of the most astounding effects in all of mentalism. Guessing a thought, predicting a word, number, or even a free choice becomes a clean, direct, and utterly devastating piece of mental magic.

Whether you're a professional mentalist, a curious hobbyist, or even someone who's always felt hesitant about using a swami, Cera is made for you. Gonzalo studied the works of masters like Max Maven, Banachek, and Jim Steinmeyer, and combined their genius with his own ideas to engineer a tool that solves every historic flaw of the swami. Cera is easier to use and more beginner friendly than previous gimmicks. It easily adapts to your fingers. Best of all, it writes larger, creating letters that are legible from farther away, looking just like a Sharpie. Don't worry, there is no glue or fingernails either!

Cera includes three new gimmicks, all necessary materials, and a comprehensive, 4+ hour tutorial. Cera is designed to take you from a beginner to a pro, and the deep dive covers everything you'll need to know, including tips, handlings, and advice from mentalists who've been using the Swami gimmicks for years.

The training is organized into three progressive blocks:

Block 1: Working with simple symbols, shapes, small numbers, and letters. (34 effects, plus bonus ideas and concepts)

Block 2: Working with complex numbers, shapes, and words. (26 effects, plus bonus ideas and concepts)

Block 3: Working in Complete Acts. (4 full acts, including a huge prediction in a candy jar with NO electronics at all, plus 16 ideas and bonus concepts)

Stop being hesitant about the swami. This is your chance to elevate your act and perform effects that will be talked about for years.

I will say this is quite a new take on the old workhorse. Unusual design but fits nice and writes well. You don't get a single gimmick. You get three different types, as well as two types of lead offering variety to fit your own personal preferences. These are larger than a band or thumb tip writer but we're magicians so concealment shouldn't be an issue. I love this gimmick. Very well made. I think this is a very special type of writer. I'm not getting rid of my other writers but this one is definitely staying in my arsenal. Thanks, Gonzalo! For me this is a winner

Its okay... There are a few bits im not happy about.

firstly the gimmick you get is 3d printed. I dont mind this but i dont feel like this is something that should be covered in the ad copy.

Also I cannot find info anywhere on where you get the greasy lead refills from. I havent seen it in the tutorial which is almost 4 hours long with no reference timestamps.

Although i do think its a bit expensive for what it is, the gimmick does work and I can see it doing the job.

Community questions about Cera

Have a question about this product? It's possible others do too. Ask here and other Vanishing Inc. Magic customers will be able to respond with assistance! Alternatively, email us and we can help too.

  • Jordi asks: Is it possible to ask for what kind of lead it use? because i want to consider getting this and im afraid the refill may not be available easily in my country

  • Ralph asks: As someone who has used NW's for decades, the good and the bad..., a picture of the gimmick would be helpful in making a decision. Thank you very much.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:This isn’t something we have received from the supplier
  • Matthew asks: In terms of technique, is this any easier or harder than regular Swami or Thumb writers? Or is it a similar level of practice required?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:I would say a similar level of practice is required to get it looking great
  • taylor asks: How easy is it to get into from your pocket?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Super easy
  • Paul asks: Can we get a video audience point of view while Cera is being used. I don’t need to see audience reaction to a performance I want to see the performance. This video tells me nothing.

    • 1. Gonzalo responds:Hi, I dont fully understand what you mean, but above you can see a private video of me at home performing CERA directly for the camera :) Maybe the pajamas approach is the good one. Thanks for the interest! :)
  • Doug asks: Does this gimmick involve having longer fingernails?

    • 1. Jim responds:No.
  • David asks: and how invisible is this thing????

    • 1. Jim responds:If you put in the practice time, it will not be seen.
  • Tom asks: That was not an uncut performance. It was a reveal (they were all reveals). When are creators going to understand that this is expected nowadays. An uncut performance is beginning to end. This would be helpful (required). Gimmick sounds great but we all know hype marketing equals wasted dollars. Can you please show a truly uncut performance?

    • 1. Will responds:I second this - would be very helpful to see a full, uncut performance - given the nature of the gimmick.
    • 2. Gonzalo responds:Hello, what you see in the trailer is the exposure of the important part (the use of CERA for the secret information) that I thought was the important part to see uncut, rather than the presentation itself. You have here a pajama open take on it if you want to see 5 minutes of me performing :) 5 minutes is way too long for any trailer, giving the key information is I think more useful and respectful to the community: https://youtu.be/gX4jK5fLx-g?si=tTOWHilNBWhotFnz Besides that, you have a 4 uncut hour trainning tutorial to fully understand the possibilities of CERA, which is far away for wasted money :) thanks for the interest!!
    • 3. Gonzalo responds:CERA is so cool that you might think what you see is the revelation :)…is the writing :)
  • Larry asks: What is the refill the writer process like. Easy? Hard? Easy but messy? And where do we get refills?

    • 1. Gonzalo responds:Easy to refill! and pretty simple to find and cheap to do :)
