You begin by showing five cards featuring a simple gift box design. You ask the participant a question that almost everyone can relate to… “Are you the type of person who shakes their presents before they open them?”

After your participant chooses a gift from a list, they get to do exactly that! They shake each card and flip it over to see if their choice is inside. Sometimes it is, and other times it is not. Either way, they get to experience how hard it is to guess based on shaking alone! After they have shaken all five gift boxes, you explain that the reason you asked is that you are actually quite good at guessing gifts yourself. You take the cards and shake them near your own ear... Slowly you start to describe pieces, the sound of fabric, jingling, even an animal sound. Quickly they realize you're describing exactly what they chose!
