Graphite

A pencil moves, then rises, standing straight up in your bare hand. No magnets. No electronics. No moving parts.
For years, Romuald Barbey has performed "Graphite" and kept it a closely guarded secret. Today, in collaboration with Dual Magic, he finally shares it with you.
Graphite is built to last and can live in your pocket all day long, ready for your everyday life and your professional gigs. It uses an everyday prop, and is impossibly clean. This is an organic moment of magic that fits in your pocket.
Note: The method is designed for adults, and is not suitable for children to perform. If you have concerns about the method, please contact our support wizards.

Giuseppe asks: Same type of thing as the classic haunted voodoo doll? As in doing something that should be advertised ahead of time instead of surprising people who don’t know the method?
- 1. Bud responds:Yes, maybe this shouldn't be advertised as a 'closely guarded secret', if, in fact, the method is the same as the Voodoo Doll method. If this isn't the Voodoo Doll method, then, hummm!
- 2. Paul responds:It IS a guarded secret—just an ancient one! The “only for adults” disclaimer practically tells you what it is. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a great little deceptive trick. If you you use your noggin you can even let them (apparently) examine it.
- 3. Fredrick responds:The concept goes back to the late 1800’s according to Denis Behr’s Conjuring Credits (https://www.conjuringcredits.com/doku.php?id=misc:rising_pencil). There was a commercial release in the 1950’s Royden’s New Rising Pencil. Not sure when it evolved into the voodoo doll. Now it’s back again as a pencil. As the saying goes, everything old is new again.
