Leviosa - magic
Leviosa Leviosa Leviosa Leviosa Leviosa Leviosa Leviosa Leviosa Leviosa

A beloved classic gets a James Bond-level upgrade. If you had genuine magic powers, it would look just like “Leviosa”.

João Miranda & Julio Montoro are some of the most creative magicians in the world and their revolutionary new take on “The Haunted Deck” literally takes the effect to new heights. It’s movie magic, but in real life.

The trick begins like normal. A card is selected, signed if you wish, and returned to the deck which is placed on the floor. You show your hands empty and, with no suspicious moves, the deck cuts itself in half and shoots out the selected card.

Most performances stop here, but not “Leviosa."

Like a real-life Harry Potter you then shock your audience by making the deck defy gravity and fly through the air into your waiting hand. As the deck lifts, jaws will drop as everyone is left stunned.

Here’s the best part though. This surprise ending also automatically resets “Leviosa.” You start and end clean, allowing you to seamlessly perform it over and over again throughout the night. When people inevitably ask you to repeat it immediately...you can!

This self-contained gem is a technical, mechanical, magical marvel. It is easy to use and truly a dream come true for any working performer that wants to leave their audience with a moment of real magic.

You’ll get everything you need to start performing right away, including the special gimmicks, accessories (including extra thread), USB charger, and comprehensive video instructions.

“Leviosa” by João Miranda and Julio Montoro FAQ

1. How Durable is the Gimmick?
“Leviosa” uses a specially-crafted motor that has been carefully programmed to drastically reduce the risk of breaking the secret invisible gimmick. When used correctly, the chance of breaking is almost 0%. So, you can relax and perform “Leviosa” with confidence every time.

2. What Happens if I Accidentally Break the IT?
A spool of 45 meters of João Miranda's pre-stripped IT is included.

3. What sort of hookup does “Leviosa” require?
“Leviosa” does not use complicated setups like other IT effects. It uses a brand-new principle that allows the gimmick to be integrated within the deck of cards. This means the “setup” is actually done right out in the open in front of your audience. It is 100% automatic and self-contained, so there is no cleanup. Everything resets instantly.

After playing around with it for about a week now, I find it to be just as advertised. I have not used thread a lot, but after watching the instructions and trying it out, I felt very assured that I would be able to do this without any issues . I have used it in practice 2 or 3 times a day and it works great! The thread did break once and it was not that difficult to fix. (my error caused the thread to snap). Next time it will be easy. If you follow the directions on how to handle the deck, you will not have any problems. The workings are well made and should last a long time. It is pricey, but with what you receive it is worth the price.

I received Leviosa 2days ago. After watching the Instructional videos, I had no trouble getting it to work perfectly, and I have only a small amount of experience with IT magic. It is very well constructed. Just follow the instructions and you will have no issues. After using it in practice about 20 times, I have had no trouble with the thread breaking. Take your time to learn the handling and you will using it with confidence. Practice will help, as with any other trick. Just using it myself while practicing I have enjoyed it. I am more of a collector and hobbyist and I am very happy with this product! The price I feel is very fair for what you get. You will see when you open the package!

The ingenuity of the method can't be understated; if you love levitation effects or fun technology in your magic, Leviosa should fit the bill.

This will certainly take some getting used to and certainly WON'T be for everyone - I'm not even sure it's for me, in all honesty - but if you like the look of the effect in the trailer, this looks just as good in real life and is, indeed, very practical and refreshingly self-contained. Just be mindful that this will take some excess care; if you're not used to thread work, be gentle and don't get too overzealous as you're learning your way around this.

An absolute hit from Montoro and Miranda. This device will serve you well in the right hands. It’s fun to perform and gets a solid reaction. My I.T. broke after a few performances. I wish the string was stronger. Replacing it take unearthly patience, a steady hand and really good lighting. Overall, this is a worker.

Update (few days later): I just dropped another $89 on more replacement gravity thread. It’s been snapping left and right. Great reactions when it works BUT replacing the thread and starting the process of hooking it back up makes you want to scream in a pillow.

Probably one of my least favourite purchases I've ever made. It's super smart, like a bond gadget. Very impressive they made this fit into a card deck. That being said, this thing is trash if you are performing and want something that works consistently. It's gimmicky, sounds nothing like cards moving and it's fragile. You are literally inviting yourself to fail, and reveal secrets. Do not waste your time on this product. I laughed, then cried at how much this toy cost me. I really need to stop falling for magic trailers and rethink my life. Back to the books I guess

Plain awful. Don’t waste your money like I did. It’ll end up in your junk box and you will be short $$$$$

Community questions about Leviosa

Have a question about this product? It's possible others do too. Ask here and other Vanishing Inc. Magic customers will be able to respond with assistance! Alternatively, email us and we can help too.

  • Ben asks: On average, how many performances before replacement of thread is needed?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: That's hard to judge but if you keep your gimmick in good shape, you could probably get close to 1000+ performances. You are supplied with extra thread.
  • James asks: At the end of the trick, can you hand the deck to the spectators to inspect?

    • 1. Isaac answers: From what I gather, no you can not. And since it is momentarily shown in the trailer I hope I wouldn’t be exposing anything to say it seems that it is not a real deck of cards, but a mechanical device with some cover cards initially on top.
    • 2. Adrien answers: No, however, there's no need to have a deck of cards examined at the end of an effect.

  • Vaughn asks: How do you keep the IT from being seen from someone being so close to you?

    • 1. Adrien answers: Audience management is a factor in this effect, as with most effects of this nature, however the routine is structured in such a way to make the most of this.
    • 2. Mark answers: I just ordered this what is the chance of people seeing the thread when you are ready to grab the deck for the final? since this is all done close up my worry would be someone would see the thread from angles or being too close also, I plan to take this on holiday with me would I be able to take this on a plane as it has electronic parts like my other tricks do ir Connexion would be able to take them on a flight as well as Connexion thanks
    • 3. Joshua answers: The IT is really hard to see in a moderately to dark room. If the room has a lot of sun light at the wrong angles, they will see it. As long as you keep that in mind and choose your back drop, you will be find. The gimmick is very clever and a great way to end a set.

  • Jeffrey asks: It says it is available in standard "Red" or "Blue". How difficult would it be to personally customize it to other styles of decks, such as black-coloured, (i.e. The "Dead Souls" deck), or even Tarot?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It would be very difficult because the threading system is built into the backs of the cards.
  • Gary asks: I am assuming the IT lifts the deck to hand wouldn’t it be quite easy for it to break as the gimmick looks quite heavy and very intricate if it were to fall ?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You would think that but the deck is gimmicked so that it is light enough to lift and the threading is built into the deck.
  • Gene asks: Currently the Red back is sold out. Will it be restocked?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It will be stocked soon! No ETA at this time.
  • Ron asks: Can Leviosa be performed for walk around magic at tables?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It's designed to be performed on the floor.
  • Dustin asks: I see in the trailer that during the haunted deck portion the selected card occasionally flips over. Is this luck of the draw or can it be an element of the effect. If so is the method given?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: I'd say that it happens more often. About 7 times out of 10
  • Peter asks: Any idea when this will be back in stock? I've been watching for ~6 months but still haven't seen a change.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It's only been available for a few weeks, so not sure how you could be waiting six months! Best thing to do is put your email address in where it says "email me when this is back in stock" and you will be the first to know. We do not manufacture this, so are unable to offer any dates for the re-stock, sadly.
  • Gary asks: My question is how close will the thread allow you to get to the spectator without being seen?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Same as any thread work, it depends on the lighting, the eyesight of who you perform for, and other conditions. But you can comfortably do this close up.
  • Heather asks: I don't work with sleeves. I've seen this demonstrated without sleeves. I also can't do any ankle rigging as I'm in stalkings and heels. I wanted to ask if there were attire limitations with this effect?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: There are zero attire limitations with this effect. :)
  • Eric asks: Are there any limits to what clothes I'm wearing?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No limits
