Lucky 52

“Lucky 52” is a stunning prediction effect that is easy to perform and feels completely fair from start to finish.
Here’s what happens:
You introduce a single card with the word “LUCKY” printed on the back. This is your prediction.
You then suggest a game with your participant where you deal the cards face up, one at a time from a deck of cards, and at any point, they must say the word “snap” and drop their hand onto any card they like. They can snap early or late. It’s a completely free choice, and they can even change their minds and have you continue dealing.
You start dealing the cards face up, one by one, showing that every single card is different. At some point, your participant says “snap!” and slams their hand down on a card; you set that card aside. You mention that if the card they stopped on doesn’t match the prediction card, they get a prize.
You bring attention back to your “LUCKY” prediction card and slowly turn it over to reveal that their card is on the back…along with the 51 other cards in a deck of cards. The classic “Fifty-Two on One Card” gag.
But then, you turn the entire deck over and reveal that every single card has a different back design, all except for one card, the card they chose also has the word “LUCKY” printed on the back.
“Lucky 52” is incredibly easy to perform, requires zero sleight of hand, and has no forces. The participant can really choose any card and change their minds, but in the end, you will always be left with a card that matches your “Lucky” prediction card.

Alfonso asks: Does this trick, technically, have something to do with invisible deck?
- 1. Peter responds:My similar (though perhaps more overt) question was removed! I think we must assume it does - a very nice effect with a much used utility stick I think.
- 2. Rick responds:Yes, it does, but unlike the ID it is NOT ready to go out of the box - way too much arts & crafts for me.
