“Proof” is a powerful mentalism routine disguised as a psychological test that you do with your participants, and the revelation doesn’t come from you; it comes from the cards themselves.

Here’s what happens:

You introduce a packet of cards with simple pictures on them. Some are in color, and some are black and white, but the images are specifically chosen because your brain reacts to them in different ways.

You ask your participant to think of any one of the images. You then guide them through a short psychological test repeated three times. Each phase feels completely innocent and totally hands-off, with just some simple yes or no confirmations that appear to prove nothing.

But then you deal the cards out into four random piles. You flip over the piles one by one. The first pile reveals the category. The second pile reveals if your participant is thinking of a color or a black-and-white image. The third reveals the first letter of the image they’re thinking of, and the final pile reveals the exact image they were merely thinking of.
