Introducing "Imposter" by John Morton, based off of Max Maven's Kurotsuke routine. NOW AVAILABLE IN 2 OPTIONS: STICKS OR SHARPIE.

You invite five participants on stage, and, with your back turned, have them each choose a Sharpie out of a tube. Four of the Sharpie's have black on tips, but one Sharpie has a red tip. Despite your back being turned, you ALWAYS know who took the Sharpie with the red end.

This simple seeming tube and Sharpies are perfect for the modern performer. They're small enough to fit in your pocket but plays big enough for stage and close up shows.

John takes this simple idea and turns it into a wonderful, 10+ minute mentalism routine. What will you do with it?

Customer reviews for Sharpie Imposter

Craig
This is the BEST of its kind out there. It beats electronic versions and any other you've seen. I have the marker version. I think the stick version looks a bit out of the ordinary ... thick colored sticks with dots?
With the sharpie version you can have the spectators put an "X" on a numbered card they hold. Now you have a reason for having them select markers. You can then collect the makers in the tube and put it away. At this point you are dealing with the spectators and a numbered card they can turn around and take away with them. I think it's a much better finish than showing a color on a stick and collecting it at the end.

  • Jeff asks: Can anyone hand out the sharpies? Or am I the one to hold the tube every time?

    • 1. Scott responds:You must hold the tube as the markers are distributed.
  • Jeff asks: Can this be done if you only have an audience of four people? In other words can I eliminate one of the sharpies beforehand.

    • 1. Scott responds:Absolutely!
    • 2. Craig responds:It can be done with 1 to 5 people ... although using one person doesn't get you a lot of excitement.
