Customer reviews for Cupcake Pro 2.0
That said, why only four stars? I have a few concerns. One is that the surface is slicker than it looks. Care needs to be taken in handling it. I fixed this issue with a black rubber band of the kind you find with grocery produce. It fits perfectly and the cup looks like it came with the band.
A second concern is with the cup in an upside down position with the slot holding a regular coin. Again, care must be taken to avoid dumping the coin if you don't want it dumped. A tilt is safe, but I have yet to finesse the cup to hang onto the coin in the mouth down position on a table. I have a routine borrowed from an Okito slot box that I would like to do, but the cup has to work upside down when turned over more than once, and so far it's not working. A remedy to this would be a steel alloy, which can be found in some foreign coins; that avoids the slot, but the slot is part of the reason for having the cup, no? A magnetic coin in the cup works fine, but the combination of the two magnets means you have to smack the cup REALLY hard to dislodge it... A regular coin in the slot is also not noiseless, so it's necessary to keep that in mind as well.
As noted by others, the tutorial is short and not particularly helpful. If you are an intermediate coin handler, the video might give you some ideas, but that's about it. Craig Petty has an hour-long video on Youtube covering the Cupcake that is worth watching.
I appreciate the inclusion of the monkey fists, but they, like crochet balls, scream magician's props. Stick a weak magnet or a steel nut into... whatever. I'm intending to use balled up pieces of aluminum foil (one gimmicked) for a coin-to-ball routine that helps remove the incongruity of two different objects with the similar silver colors.
I recommend this device, but, as always with props, it's not perfect. If you feel stuck in the rut of doing other people's routines, the Cupcake might be a good way to be more creative.
