Call for Creators: Build New Magic
Magic has always evolved through those bold enough to make it, not just perform it.
Yet the magic marketplace tells a clear story: commercially released magic is still heavily shaped by men.
Vanishing Inc. and Mystify are partnering to actively change that.
This open call is an invitation for non-male creators to submit original magic effects with the potential for professional production and distribution. If you are a creator who wants to move your ideas from performance into objects, systems, and methods that can live in the hands of others — you are exactly who we're looking for.
This project centers on creation, teaching, and thoughtful design. Your voice, your process, and your way of explaining magic are key.
Who Should Apply
You might be a performer who has never released a trick.
You might be a builder who quietly makes clever things.
You might be someone who has ideas but has never been invited into the production side of magic.
You do not need prior releases or a large platform. In fact, if this is your first time producing magic for retail, we especially encourage your application.
You do need an original, finished effect or prop and the ability to explain it clearly.
What to Submit
Applications must include the following components. Clear communication matters more than polish.
Submit a video that includes:
- A full performance of the effect
- An explanation of the method
- A clear view of all props and components required
This helps us understand the audience experience, the technical demands, and the physical reality of the trick.
Optionally, submit a second video showing you teaching the trick to someone who does not already know it. This could include:
- Step-by-step instruction for your student
- Seeing the student learn and try
- Corrections and adjustments
- Feedback as the learner practices
Teaching is a core part of how magic survives, and shows us you're ready for the responsibilities that come with being a creator.
Help us imagine this in the real world. Please include a written or video breakdown covering:
- Materials required to manufacture the trick
- Any specialized skills or tooling needed
- Potential challenges in scaling or production
- Variations, upgrades, or design considerations
This does not need to be a finalized manufacturing plan. We want to see how you think about making the idea real.

- Originality and adaptability of your trick
- How aesthetic and clear your concept is
Different backgrounds, perspectives, teaching styles, and design instincts all belong here. There is no single look, tone, or method we are seeking.

What Selected Creators Receive
- Two registrations to Mystify Magic Festival 2027
- A development partnership with Vanishing Inc. — hands-on collaboration with the Vanishing Inc. team to bring your creation to market, including support with design, production, filming, marketing, and distribution
- Guidance and mentorship towards professional production
- Publishing and distribution through Vanishing Inc. Magic
- Visibility within the global magic community
Support will vary by project, but the goal is to help strong ideas move forward in meaningful ways.

Terms & Conditions
- Eligibility: This call is open to non-male creators, aged 18+. Submissions from anywhere in the world are welcome.
- Original Work: By submitting, you confirm that the work is your own and that you have the right to share and explain it.
- Confidentiality: All submissions will be treated as confidential and reviewed only by Vanishing Inc., Mystify, and trusted advisors.
- Use of Materials: Submitted materials will be used solely for evaluation and development discussion unless you give explicit permission otherwise.
- Selection: Not all submissions will be selected.
- Prize: One selected creator will receive two registrations to Mystify Magic Festival 2027 (no cash alternative) along with a development partnership with the Vanishing Inc. team. This partnership includes hands-on support with design, production, marketing, filming, and bringing your product to market.
- Future Development: Any production, publishing, or commercial release will require a separate written agreement outlining credit, royalties, and terms.
- Disqualification: Submissions that are plagiarized, misleading, or violate these terms may be disqualified.
- Changes & Law: The organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the call.
FAQ
Why isn't this open to everyone, including male creators?
Opportunities for commercial production and publishing in magic have historically gone mostly to men, and that pattern still shows up in today's marketplace. But we love receiving submissions from everyone on our submit a trick page.
Is there only one winner??
Nope! Every great potential product has a chance of being produced. There is only one Mystify registration prize, but we are excited to work with as many great creators as possible.
What is the compensation?
If we choose your trick, you'll be offered the same creator-forward terms as every other Vanishing Inc. creator. Depending on the type of project, we pay a fixed rate, or agree a profit share. If you accept the terms, your trick will be produced and marketed by Vanishing Inc.
Can I submit multiple tricks?
Yes. We encourage you to submit your very best effect, but you are welcome to submit more than one application if you have multiple original creations.
What if I can't attend Mystify?
That's totally fine. You can even give away or sell the two registrations.
When does this close?
We always want to hear from you if you have a great idea! However the Mystify collaboration closes on 29th May 2026.
