DG Maze Deck

Daniel Garcia is known for being a creative powerhouse and is beloved by magicians for his out-of-the-box thinking. We’re so excited to collaborate with him on his newest creation, the DG Maze Deck. Designed from the ground up by Daniel himself, the DG Maze Deck is an EDC pack of cards that hides a devious secret.
Every card back features Garcia’s “Maze Design”, a bold, geometric pattern that isn’t just visually stunning, but also hides the clever marking system built right into the back design. No decoding or mental gymnastics. Once you understand the marking system, you’ll instantly know the card's suit and value without having to take a second look while still being completely invisible to those who don’t know the system, even under close inspection. The marking system was designed to be seen clearly, even from across the table. You don’t need to hold the cards close or squint to read the markings.
As well as a custom ace of spades, the DG Maze Deck also includes:
- KD with a Yellow Or Red back
- 4S with Red Back
- 2 duplicate jokers
The decks have been printed by the United States Playing Card Company on their premium crushed stock, and they handle beautifully.
This is not just another deck of cards. It’s Daniel Garcia’s maze deck, one you’ll want to get lost in again and again.
Customer reviews for DG Maze Deck
The card stock is also excellent, very thin and handle beautifully. It’s my favorite card stock – one that VI has used for all of their recent custom decks.
So if you’re looking for an easy to read marked deck, that handles a beautifully, this is a great choice.
All of that said, I find them visually rather unappealing and quite unattractive. The color is just a murky dark blue with a mazelike maze like design. Nothing that I would be proud of showing to spectators.
The red and yellow card, (they include a red and yellow king of diamonds) is actually quite striking. Even the red back (they include a red back 4 spades) it’s nice. But the murky navy that is currently offered I think is quite a dud. Maybe they will offer the other colors in the future.
Bottom of mine – if you need an easy to read deck that handles beautifully, and you don’t care about aesthetics, this is a great option, and cheaper than night flights or DMCs, which share the same marking principles.
The markings are quick and easy to read. They’re well disguised too but once you see them you will always see them. And the marks are large enough that you can read them at a glance from five feet away (without my glasses which is saying a lot for my 83 year old eyes). The black and green colors don’t contrast a lot which might be a problem if you are colorblind. And if one is a little dyslexic one might have a problem reading the suits (but I’m being over-critical on this point).
The card stock is high quality. I think it’s a thin-crush stock printed by USPCC.
The faces are all standard except for a “Daniel Garcia” custom Ace of Spades and the two Jokers. The DG Ace isn’t over the top though like on a lot of custom decks. The Jokers are pretty blah featuring a hexagon with a maze in it. The theme on the back of the cards is also a maze hence the name “DG Maze Deck”.
There are two different colored Maze gaff back cards (standard face KD & 4S). Danny (or Daniel now I guess because he says he is old) teaches a routine with these two gaff cards. I wish he would have included a double backer (that’s what I would want for an EDC deck).
Hopefully in the future we will get another deck with a different color back (I like the red-back on the 4S gaff card). And hopefully we could get a much lower price maybe on a brick to where it could become an EDC.

John asks: Does Daniel teach any marked deck tricks with this purchase?
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:No just the method for reading the marks
Stephen asks: My decks did not contain a double backer. Your page says it includes a double backer. How do I receive them ?
- 1. Derek responds:There is no double backer. The ad copy refers to KS with a yellow and red back. This is because the back of this KS is two-tone- yellow and red. But not a double backer.
- 2. Stephen responds:The ad copy does say it includes a double backer: Add to wishlist | Get 200 VI Points for this purchase. Matthew asks: Could a left-handed person who spreads right to left see the marks?
- 1. Jim responds:That could be an issue, unless you do *really* wide spreads.
- 2. Derek responds:Yes – you would see the markings just as clearly as someone who spreads left to right – except that you would be seeing the markings upside down, because the markings appear upside down on the right side.
Harel asks: Is the mark system binary?
- 1. Jim responds:Can you tell me more details about your question?
- 2. Derek responds:Yes – the marketing system likes to be referred to themselves as “they “.
- 3. Rudra responds:Derek you suck.
- 4. Derek responds:I guess Rudra doesn't like humour or wordplay... If by binary, you mean red/black markings, then no -- just value/suit. Not color.
- 5. Ralph responds::)
Nathan asks: Does the purchase of the main deck include any routines? Thank you.
- 1. Jim responds:It includes one routine, along with an explanation of the marks.
Jeff asks: Possible to have 2 of each color if ordering the 6-deck?
- 1. Eirianwen responds:There seems to be only one colour at this time (navy blue). The other colours mentioned (Yellow and Red) are there for duplicate cards that are included in the deck (likely for people to use them for routines such as Red Hot Mama/Chicago Opener).
Harold asks: Can we buy them in various colors?
- 1. Eirianwen responds:At this time, it seems there's only one colour (navy blue). However, I imagine if these cards prove to be popular Vanishing Inc may consider doing other colours, although this is pure speculation.
Christopher asks: Can we see the actual back design?
- 1. Tom responds:yes that would be good haha
- 2. Johnny responds:You can see it in the images above if you click the arrows.
- 3. Johnny responds:Although, I would like to see the custom faces as well. And there seems to be 3 colours of back design, but doesn't seem to be an option to choose a specific one.
- 4. Raaed responds:There’s only 1 design. Each deck has 3 custom cards with different backs. It’s mentioned in the description above.
- 5. Raaed responds:Correction: 2 different designs (yellow and red).
- 6. Daniel responds:and Im assuming the first two back designs are for the Queen of Spades and the third, yellow, is Queen of Clubs.
- 7. Johnny responds:Thanks very much Raaed. They have updated the page since I commented - the descriptions about backs wasn't mentioned before.
