Penetration effects have been around just about as long as magic itself. Whether it’s a Sword Cabinet or a Nail-Through-Coin, there is something profoundly beautiful about a solid through solid.

"Break Thru" is a new penetration routine from Joel Dickinson. You hold a deck box at your fingertips, and without any cover, push a solid spike right through the center. When you open the box, however, you show that a solid acrylic block was inside the whole time.

There's no sequence to follow. No layered procedure. Just a single action... and a result that shouldn't exist. The visual is immediate. There is no way there could be any hidden mechanism inside either, since they can see right through it. The acrylic block genuinely occupies the full internal space. It is simply impossible.

"Break Thru" is designed for real-world performance. The handling is straightforward, with the method working for you rather than against you.

  • No difficult sleight of hand
  • No fragile moments
  • No complicated setup
  • It's reliable, repeatable, and designed to hold up under attention.

What’s included:

  • Solid acrylic block
  • Precision acrylic spike
  • Fully gimmicked box with integrated system
  • In-depth tutorial (including an additional ribbon handling)

"'Break Thru' is a rare moment of physical impossibility. The ultra clean display of this totally self-contained illusion is thoroughly disarming. The glass block revealed inside is such a powerful kicker. The effect is easy to perform precisely because of careful choreography and clever gimmickry. This mix of important considerations is what really sets Joel's eye for magic apart." Mike Davis, British Secret Service

Kyle
One of the BEST “deck penetrations” I’ve used.Things like Revolution and Hollywood are amazing, but they’re expensive—and sometimes the audience can "hear" the magic. They also don’t hold up well if dropped or handled by an over-determined participant. I’ve had my Revolution dropped in someone’s hands, and it nearly exposed the method. Plus, you have to keep up maintenance to prevent the secret from being “painted black.” (If you know, you know.)But here’s the thing, both versions I mentioned end with a solid, opaque block. Cool? Yeah. But it also leaves room for suspicion. Something could be going on in there that they can't see. This version, though, leaves the participant with a solid CLEAR block. You can hand out the block, the box, and even the little acrylic pick (careful, that thing is sharp) for full examination. The effect itself is incredibly simple to perform, which gives you more room to focus on presentation. The reset can be a little annoying at times, but it’s not terrible. And once you understand how it works, you can remake or refit the “system” into any deck.I love my Revolution, but I hate how it sits in my pockets. It got so bad I literally designed a holster to suspend it from my shoulders just to keep my outfit from being dragged down by a block of steel. This version? Lightweight, compact, and practical. I keep it ready in my pocket, with the pick tucked into the cellophane for easy access and organization. If you’re on the fence about getting it, let this be your sign.Trust me, you’ll get just as strong reactions with this as you would with the more expensive versions. Also something I do with it is place a card in front and behind the block. This allows me to pierce through both cards with the pick, a knife etc, let the participant pull the pick all the way through, then show that the cards have a phole but the block dosnt.
