This is a pretty good trick for kids. Older kids maybe not as much, but in the 4-7 range it probably works best. The character card is not examinable at all (and you have to be very careful how you present it/the angles or even kids will see what's going on), but when the kids are young enough, they don't usually ask to examine stuff. It's not a trick that will take up a lot of time in a performance, but it gets a decent response from most kids. I would recommend it but it's not a workhorse.
