The coloring book: it is well made and looks great quality wise, and is probably the best one made to-date. The only downside, to me, is that the visuals are magic tricks. That design will certainly appeal to us as magicians, but thinking about the audience, how many young kids have seen a floating table or a ball and vase? Or will remember having seen it? Or will realize what it even is as you quickly flip through the coloring book? Probably not many. Having said that - it's probably just fine in the scheme of things - they will still see the amazing visual changes which are dramatic, and they will enjoy the effect regardless. But if I could change the graphics to something more quickly identifiable, I'd make it stuff kids would recognize from their own lives - puppies, toys, whatever. Regarding the deluxe version of the coloring book (with the added appearance of "scribbles" - I think that is a worthy upgrade and it gives you a little more (optional) performance mileage. So I would suggest you go with the deluxe coloring book.
The vanishing crayons: This works exactly like you would think from watching the demo video. I almost bought just the coloring book by itself, thinking I could make something as simple as the crayons myself in 5 minutes. However, I was wrong. The crayons are replicas and are a fixed unit - and that's a big plus, because real crayons are brittle and will break or discolor stuff. So I suggest opting for the full set with the crayon effect, and you'll have a nice visual compliment to the coloring book. One small tip: there is an audible 'thump' when the crayons disappear. However, you can easily add a tiny piece of foam, felt, or pretty much anything lying around (to serve as a shock absorber), to the inside bottom of the crayon box.
All in all, any magician who ever does family or kid shows should absolutely have this set in their kit. It's definitely worth the modest price and I suspect it will last most people years. It's simply great visual magic.
