"I've been doing this in my theater shows"
Mac King

When Jon Allen released The Silent Treatment in 2005, it instantly became one of magic’s most talked-about openers. It’s been performed by countless top magicians and mentalists all around the world.

Originally designed for close-up and parlor shows. This legendary routine has been reimagined for stage performances. The Silent Treatment: Stage Edition takes everything that made the original a classic and makes it bigger, bolder, and more powerful than ever.

You walk on stage holding a set of large printed cards. Without saying a word, you begin turning them over one by one. Each page “speaks” for you, guiding the audience through a silent but hilarious conversation. You playfully interact with them through the written words, as one of the printed cards asks a participant to think of a playing card. At the finale, the reason for your silence is revealed: you open your mouth to reveal a folded card, and not just any card, it’s the participant's thought-of card!

One of the huge improvements that Jon has made is that your participant can truly name any card. **This means now there are ZERO restrictions, and it’s not just limited to playing cards; you could have the participant think of a US state, a person in the room, or a specific product for corporate shows. **The routine is completely customizable. You can easily translate or replace the text to suit any language or tailor it to your own style of humor and presentation.

The oversized pages are clearly visible from across the room, allowing you to perform this modern classic in any theater or large performance space. Every page is printed on durable material that’s designed to withstand countless performances.

The Silent Treatment: Stage Edition grabs attention from the very first moment and ends with one of the most surprising and satisfying reveals in all of magic and mentalism. It’s a proven opener used by professionals around the world, including legendary actor Jason Alexander, who performed it as his opener at The Magic Castle.

Everything you need is included right out of the box: the large printed pages, the display pockets, and the complete routine in English. It’s simple to perform, instantly engaging, and gets an incredible reaction every single time. If you’re looking for an opener that speaks volumes without saying a word, this is it.

"An incredible magic trick"
Shawn Farquhar

"A perfect opening routine"
Raymond Crowe

"Novelty, charm, humor and magic"
David Regal

Note: You are provided with all the props, including the full, printed routine in English. This can be easily replaced with pages printed in any language you choose.

Customer reviews for Silent Treatment (Stage)

Gregory
Absolutely brilliant device and concept. Jon Allen’s superb instructional video presents a terrific blend of demonstrating technique and audience interaction coaching. Incredible impact with minimal sleights/moves and a modicum of preparation. There’s also a built in “fool magicians” bit caused by a head fake toward a familiar equivoque/magician’s choice route that is suddenly abandoned for a demonstrably, totally free choice from an audience member.
This is designed as an opener and should set up any subsequent performance style.

  • Mike asks: I am trying to understand why this could ever cost this much…? The video shows extremely minimal excerpts from a performance, and it looks like a good trick…but…240 bucks…??? Was an extra zero added by mistake? Love and trust you guys, but this is a HUGE stretch based on what the video shows. Maybe you can provide more insight on this if possible? Many thanks :)

    • 1. Christian responds:Same question about the price as this stage version differs from the original version (£ 30), just by the bigger format and the fact the spectator can really name any card. But the method is the same one. So you have to pay $ 240 just for a bigger equipment...
  • Lou asks: Can you tell me what size they are? They look to big for my case.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:These are around A3 Size
  • Charlie asks: Does the thing that gets chosen have to be out of around 52? E.g. Could I do this with a named country?

    • 1. Christian responds:Yes, but there is a risk that the trick fails, if the named country is not among the planned countries, as there are 195 countries in the world. To avoid this risk, you could set only countries of one continent, and ask the spectator to name any country in this continent (Europe for instance).
    • 2. Christian responds:Answer to the first question : 52 or less than 52.
  • Sidney asks: Can this be performed surrounded? Or any angle problems?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Yes it can be
  • Volkan asks: So is it has to be in English or can it be any language ?

    • 1. Fredrick responds:In the demo, Jon shows it in other languages. You probably have to make up your own posters.
    • 2. Greg responds:Note: You are provided with all the props, including the full, printed routine in English. This can be easily replaced with pages printed in any language you choose.
