Thin Air (Ignacio López)
Thin Air (Ignacio López)

After completely selling out at Magifest and Blackpool, “Thin Air” from Ignacio Lopez is finally available worldwide.
“Thin Air” is one of the most versatile utility devices we’ve ever offered. Hidden beneath the surface of this seemingly innocent silk lies one of the easiest and most practical ways to produce, vanish or switch playing cards, business cards, photos, lottery tickets, billets…or any other similar item.
Here are just a few ways to use “Thin Air”:
- Producing a full deck of cards for the perfect card magic opener
- An impossible torn and restored card effect using a signed playing card
- A squeaky clean business card or playing card transposition
- Switching hand-written notes for the easiest force ever
- Swapping out audience-filled lottery tickets for pre-filled lottery tickets featuring the winning numbers
- An incredibly fair and simple serial number divination with a borrowed bill
- Making coins magically appear prior to your favorite coin trick
- …and so much more!
“Thin Air” is elegant enough for a parlor magic performance while also being portable and durable enough for close-up magic. If you ever perform seated at a table, you’ll find that there’s even some bonus advantages built into the design of “Thin Air”.
Magicians and mentalists of any skill level will be able to use “Thin Air” in less than 60 seconds.
Each set comes with the expertly-crafted, premium “Thin Air” silk and complete instructions, including a dazzling playing card routine that showcases the full capability of “Thin Air”. You’ll also receive a special bonus video featuring a variety of other applications and will gain access to the exclusive “Thin Air” Facebook group where other magicians will share their most creative ideas.
Please Note: "Thin Air" does require a few seconds of prep prior to performing. As such, while it resets in seconds and can be used for close-up magic, it's not designed to be used for table-hopping.
Customer reviews for Thin Air (Ignacio López)
Get this item. Lots of people say things like, "you will not be disappointed". I am not a professional, but a hobbyist. However, this is top notch. I have been doing magic as a hobby for over 50 years and I can definitely attest that this one will be in my shows for sure. Other effects wane with age or do not match everyone's style. This tool literally can be adapted for any style and I can confidently say, with a minimum of practice, anyone can be seen as a first class performer.
The video instructions from Lopez are good and give some basic handlings. The two videos produced by Vanishing Inc are exceptional and very informative. They are worth the price of the effect alone. Please give this one a try and I daresay you will be as thrilled as I am. There is a low number of effects produced that many magicians will get excited about, this one should be on every magician's wish list, it is truly that good. Take this old magician's word for it.
However, it was priced right and the effect is pretty so I said why not.
Fools everyone I’ve shown it to and has left a mark on some folks which really suppressed me.
I’ve added this to the same box in my mind as a thumb tip, as I believe as obvious as it is to a magician…. It’s a brain fryer to a non-magician.
It’s fun to use and perform. Highly recommended

I use this to hide some gimmicks aces. So I conjure the faces in the Thin Air out of nowhere. It allows me to have a spectator take four aces from a deck. I vanish them and then replace with my cards.
Though I could work out the concept before it arrived this is well made and great quality and I probably couldn't have made this myself for the same cost.
The only downside with the effect is there's no quick reset that can be done in sight of anyone and does require the reset to be done away from prying eyes which does then limit its use within a performance but it's a great opener if you have the chance to setup before
The tutorials are clear, short and to the point but cover everything.

T.J. asks: Is this similar to Mark Wilson’s thank you banner?
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Thin Air is more of a utility prop for producing or switching flat objects under a silk (cards, billets, etc.). The Thank You Banner from Mark Wilson’s Complete Course in Magic is a specific effect where a banner changes to reveal the message “Thank You.”
Joshua asks: Does this have to be preset I. The table or can the silk be laid out as if empty in front of the audience?
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:This would need to be set up before anybody sees it.
Frank asks: Hi, would it be possible to put a hardboard close up pad on top of the silk, so during your show, it looks like the silk is just decoration of a magian's table - until when you remove the pad, you perform the actual trick with it ? After the trick, would i be able to place everything back (not for reset, just for optics) ? Thanks !
- 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds:Yes this would be fine to do
